Not sure if 121 compressors will get scarce though. AC isn't a priority for me. I just w...

Best USED car at $60k

As the title says...I have about 50-60k and I looking for the most RELIABLE used car. I had a Nissan Y12 before and was not pleased with how often I had to change parts I'm leaning towards a Toyota Axio 141 for $60k but I hear the transmission and compressor gives a lot of trouble. Re: Used RORO vs used LOCAL

The local that I checked in a lot worse condition than the RORO. Plenty back pressure etc. That's why I rell considering this Chris, Call Jaska Enterprises right now @ 730-9393. They have a very well maintained, local, first owner, fully loaded, 2013 NZE 141 for sale. Don’t stick. I called them but...

Re: Used RORO vs used LOCAL

Look for a better local corolla then. The reason I warned about that is because 2 people I personally know with local corollas, bought by themselves straight from the firm 10-13 years ago do not maintain them. They keep them clean inside out, and topped up on fuel, but they cant tell you if the coo...

Re: Used RORO vs used LOCAL

Local has a lesser chance of rolled back mileage compared to the roro, and wont need a hybrid battery replacement eventually. If you upgrade the head unit to one with android auto/carplay and add a reverse camera, you happy in that for 10+ years to come. Make sure the local one not burning oil and ...

I'm in the market to buy a TOYOTA (fed up of Nissan).
There's a 2013 Local Corolla with 100k kilos and a RORO 2016 Axio with 150k kilos.

Both same price, and good condition. Somebody help me decide

So I recently figure out that I could use my Visa Debit card from republic bank for payments locally. This is the linx card with the chip in it (and visa logo). But I want to know if this card could be used online too. Maybe to fund a PayPal account or make Google payments etc. Anybody ever use this...

Fan not turning off

So I put in a thermostat in the Y12 (didn't have one) and I realise the top radiator hose getting rell hot but the bottom hose barely hot.

Also, the fans coming on at full speed after about 10 minutes of idle and it seems to not be cutting off. I waited like 10 minutes and it still on....

Thoughts?

Re: Remove Thermostat Y12

yup. but there are different pressure/temp ratings. so get the one that ur engine is rated for. the engine will last longer and get the most fuel economy with it, as the engine will be operating at the design parameters. 170k km, i cant say, not that much of an expert. efficiency wise, the ring, cy...

Re: Remove Thermostat Y12

these egines designed with a lot more tighter tolerances. if the water temp is lower than design ecu will down tune and u will lose the fuel economy, it will run like a normal long time engine. suggest to ensure it has a rated thermo stat to maximise on the fuel efficiency. if it has a temp gauge, ...

Nah I don't have one but I'd look into getting one. But is it even necessary? Bc the coolant temp gonna always be low anyways based on what Dave said

Re: Remove Thermostat Y12

Your water temps would be low but the block temp would be higher. In a modern fuel injected engine you need a thermostat to regulate the temperature. If doing away then at least guts out the spring mechanism and use the frame as a restriction while still being free. Yea I left the frame in it, but ...

Re: Remove Thermostat Y12

Will It cause damage not really, is it necessary no....but it does have a purpose, it brings the engine to operating temperature quickly, why is that important well for one thing when your engine is cold the fuel ratio is not actively adjusted real time but rather a preset rich mixture is provided ...

Remove Thermostat Y12

My mechanic say the thermostat was sticking in the Y12 so he took it out. He said it not necessary in this tropical climate. Thoughts on this?

PS: I mainly drive highway runs, so the engine don't be on too much load

Re: Coolant Connector

That outlet is typically part of the thermostat housing. Scaling is usually from hard water but I hadn't seen rusted systemvin a long time. A little research indicated that a very good explanation is an engine with missing or improper ground straps. That could also cause audio system noise while th...

I've had my hose give out while on the highway already, so I know the position you could possibly end up in. Aite cool. I'll see to get that changed tomorrow. Any regu...

You really want to chance driving around knowing that the hose could give out at any time? You could chance overheating and ruining your engine. It's a hose - go get it fixed. I had to change my entire radiator because the connection was too rusted. Look at what it could possibly cost you later on ...
