Re: TECH Thread - MITSUBISHI L200, Sportero, Triton.

Funny thing is the sales reps insisted that it was LSD so after I explained how I discovered that it was an open diff they hesitantly checked. She called back to tell me I was right. My sales rep brought this to the attention of the GM who said that the new 2015 will come LSD but this batch has none...

Re: TECH Thread - MITSUBISHI L200, Sportero, Triton.

Yep. The spec sheet did say rear lsd, it also had motorized side folding mirrors with indicators which mine didnt come with, but I didnt make a problem for that because it didnt affect function.

Re: TECH Thread - MITSUBISHI L200, Sportero, Triton.

The spec sheet said rear lsd. And having the k74 with the same hybrid lsd I smiled. Really disappointed with this development. Btw this one is the fully loaded one with leather seats, sun/moon roof and rear sliding glass, so I dont understand how it doesnt have an lsd! What redress do I have? Cuz a ...

Re: TECH Thread - MITSUBISHI L200, Sportero, Triton.

Hey guys. Bought a 2014 Sportero from DM. Owned 2 b4. K 34 & 74. Does this model have rear lsd? There are no markings on diff to say lsd or to only use lsd oil like in the k74. Also, if I turn one wheel, the other turns in the opposite direction, so it behaves like an open diff. In the k74, both...

Re: TECH Thread - MITSUBISHI L200, Sportero, Triton.

sheit  when the older 8 valve throws a belt is only the rockers break. And is just to change dat an you good again.(belts an tensioner to change of course) No bent valves cuz d piston flat an strikes the valve parallel to the bottom. Fixed three engines like this and they all still working to...

Re: TECH Thread - MITSUBISHI L200, Sportero, Triton.

someone told me that the sportero engines ie the 16 valve with the lower compression ratio 17:1 are of the non-interference type. Haven't conformed this yet though. If it is true then all that needs to be done is to replace the belts and tensioners. When i looked through the bamboo all i found were ...

Re: L200 owners........what are your experiences???

i have a k74 4d56 turbo. The temp is usually 1/4 and when i run it hard it goes up to half and stays there. But once i slow down the temp drops to 1/4.
Same thing used to happen with the k34T i had previously.

Re: L200 owners........what are your experiences???

agreed .
But the strand effect suggests that it has excellent adhesive properties that will cause it to stick to the teeth and other moving parts.
I too had the same experience but the oil was new and i was now filling up the diff.

Re: L200 owners........what are your experiences???

speedaholic - it's not the dust cap that leaking. It's the seal inside. It resembles the one in the master cylinder but it really small like a 1cent. BTW- i use the belray red gear oil. never had any problems. used it in the k34 (diffs ,gearbox and TC)and i put > 150000km on it. I just changed it ac...

Re: L200 owners........what are your experiences???

The K34 originally had a 50amp altinator. This was the TBC model and did not come with factory installed ac but diamond motors installed a universal unit.

Any K74 fellas know where the temperature sensor for the thermometer on the dash is located?

Re: L200 owners........what are your experiences???

L200 _ what price did you pay for the 110amp altinator? What is the brand? I recently swapped mine in the L200. It originally came with a 75amp altinator. I had a 90amp original one which I bought in the Bamboo that I had in my previous vehicle. I paid $1800 for it. I now have the 75 amp one for sal...

Re: L200 owners........what are your experiences???

did you bleed the fuel filter? it may have air. also check all the hose clamps as the system may be pulling in air from somewhere.
Did you change the fuel filter recently?

Re: L200 owners........what are your experiences???

it works with the temperature of the sensor in it. The sensor is at the back close to the passenger side with two wires coming out. One is a ground and the other will triger the relay. Btw the fuel light came on in my van for the first time. I made 560km. The needle went just below the empty mark an...

Re: boot rubber for L200

Venum - that means that they sell you the inner boot for the outer joint.
It will still work though

If you check an original k74 or pajero one you'll see.

Changed mine on the k34 and got 5 years plus, sold the van with it and it still goin strong

Re: boot rubber for L200

The rubbers are actually different. the diameters are the same but the outer one has more ribs to allow more flex when turning. I think it's 6 or 7 compared to the inner which has three. If you put the inner on the outer it will work for a while until the rubber gets dry and then it will tear. If yo...

not sure with the DiD 4D56 but the n/a 4D56 in the k34 and k74 has a higher compression ration than the turbo version.

Re: TECH Thread - MITSUBISHI L200, Sportero, Triton.

$20 kerosene is fine . I usually put it once a month and have experienced no problems. had my k34 for 8 years and now puttin it in te k74. I even used $25 sometimes. I noted that the foreign used filters have diesel that is the appearance and consistency of kerosene but a little more viscous. Alos I...
