Re: Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

When dealing with refrigerants each has a respective pressure temperature chart. It means at a particular temperature it's at a particular pressure. Neglecting superheat and sub cooking you can obtain a lot of info from this chart. It's shows the respective high and low side pressure range for given...

Re: Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

I can understand this morning not having much heat but my fingertips were frozen. So I can't say for sure if it's the valve or the compressor. For now I'm looking at adding some oil to the system and see if this changes. How did I guestimate the refrigerant charge? Well a scale is the most accurate ...

Re: Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

Not good as idle speed. Something I did notice is no oil spilled when I removed my snap on fittings during my initial checks so the system can be low on oil. The oil moves with the refrigerant and lubricates moving parts. The txv is a mechanical device and I want to believe it's stuck. Cassie air co...

Vacuum pump and manifold gauge hooked up. Vacuum pump oil cloudy from humidity being removed. To be honest the oil due for a change hence it reached about 1000 microns and wasn't going further. 1000 microns is a good sign that there are no leaks in the system and its a more accurate measurement of e...

Re: Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

New metering device / expansion valve. Has no plate so there was some play on the line when mounted under the flange. A thicker o-ring solved that issue. Cost: $2.00

Unto metering devices / expansion valves. This would be the one I removed. Has somewhat of an orifice plate inside the liquid line port.

The metering device I removed from the evap assembly. Will post pics tomorrow of the new install, I have to get an o-ring as the line does not seat properly. Got it at RK air conditioning in couva. Re: Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

There are 3 studs it seats on and you guessed it....10 socket removes them. One near the hole in the firewall that the lines pass through, this one holds in the evap assembly. One near the kick panel, you will have to remove your kick panel to access this one. One on top the assembly under the dash ...

Re: Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

In we go. I had taken out the bolt at the bottom edge of the dash near the kick panel to get a bit of play for removal but I found that if you slip it in near the centre by where the evaporator is there is more depth under the dash to angle it in properly. Went in with ease. IMG_20240316_172726.jpg ...

Re: Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

Putting back in the blower, pay attention to the lineup because that vent takes cool air from the cool box to cool the motor. Plus it won't line up of you try to fit it in another orientation

Mazda BT-50 AC repair DIY with pics

So I have an issue, pressures not building at idle but there is refrigerant. I'm seeing like 120 by 60 psi but when revving it changes to about 180 by 50 so it's close to what it should be. Diagnosis, expansion valve / metering device. I didn't take the pics of scrapping so I'm doing it as I put it ...

Re: What the Best Split level AC Units...Carrier LG, Panasonic?

To answer both persons the relay is stuck on evaporator. You need a new evaporator board or get a new relay soldered onto the existing board. I was thinking that if the relay is stuck wouldn't the unit be constantly running? My unit is cutting off and coming back on at short intervals, just not rea...
