Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down

Closure of the Refinery The refinery has been ailing for a long time for well over 20 years or more. It is like a patient suffering from diabetes. He had a blister on one of his toes but ignored it. When it got progressively worse, only then he decided to see a doctor. The doctor took care of it an...

Re: CNG tank explodes in school bus

Honestly it's just having a diversified fuel supply. It's better to have options than none at all. Obviously hybrid and electric cars will be the more popular option but for those who keeping the IC engines it's not a bad bet esp if fuel prices go up with petrotrin shut down

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down

I don't understand, years everyone calling for the privatisation of petrotrin.
Now that's it's finally here it's like the world is going to end. Just another chapter and open market economics.
Time for all these state enterprises to shut down

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down

Yup at this point is all about privatization and loyalty. So don't expect a union to get into whatever new entities buy over the assets

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down

As espinet said, this is a business. Government has no right running a refinary business. It's there job to make sure infrastructure and critical services are there to supply the population. Many countries have privatised their refinary business as corruption impacts upon the operating bottom line. ...

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down

Probably they pre purchased the catalyst long before the decision was taken to terminate refinery Operations. So now they just storing it, wherever they got space? If it was a routine purchase there would have a designated place for it. This sounds fishy Not really, in the estate when you have upco...

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down?

Fully expect some of the better assets to be sold off to waiting investors. I always never understand that statement of life in the line for a company. I myself work at a established downstream company and I'm pretty sure I do way more work than petrotrin employees for less renumeration.

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down?

CAL is a state owned company that is extremely inefficient and will face it's time. However next up has to be NGC. That's a pipeline company that is masquarading as a gas company. It's model is currently hurting the industry as they have proved very poor in upstream contract negotiations in getting ...

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down?

From the energy landscape petrotrin could never be viable going forward. In any case it's a forced move by the bond holders as the govt can't afford that bullet payment. It's s forced hand to the action that has to be taken. As for entitlement to jobs, yes Trinidadians do feel entitled but if this w...

Re: Petrotrin refinery to shut down?

This isn't going to be a privatization of the company but creation of new entities that will be void of union action as well as adhere to outline for profitable management by the bondholders for refinancing of the bullet payments. What we will see most likely is the creation of TTUDco Trinidad and T...

Re: THE OFFICIAL **ALL THINGS CNG** THREAD

Any particular reason why? I've seen burmac working with mostly older vehicles. But fromma professional point of view what's the difference. Also any difference with the kits being used?

Heard there was two failures on the new Creek part. There seems to be a plan for repairs but cabinet is reluctnant to release funds until the plan can be verified. Doesn't look like we will get that new section till closer to election
