yep. Not the knock, just the underboosting. Without the pill the Wastegate would not regulate and the car would not past 7psi Small correction Riderz...you had it mixed up in the chronology of the events a little... But yes the knock was retarding IAMs that much to switch to the Hi DET safe map but...

I'd honestly be hard pressed to buy an Impreza TS...given the price that they go for, and the other options out there. I'm seeing 04 TS's going for 100K plus, which is crazy . Plus other cars on the market Mazda 3 , Tiida etc) have nicer interior accoutrements , and may go for cheaper (Tiida RORO)....

Redeyeblueeye , I can't imagine there being any difference in running the Amsoil and what you have in your car now, or tranny fluid vs. what is sold as pwr steering fluid. Answer to #2 is to change out pwr. steering fluid and use some Amsoil synthetic dextron 3 pwr. steering fluid....red in clr. Sorry to hear about all these problems Redeyeblueeye. Strange that you're having all this with your car :? Anyways, Polydor is spot on with the Pwr Steering fluid change. How do you know your rack and pinion seal is busted anyways? I think you need to change ur mech....maybe he cast some bad "juju"...

Will underboosting or partial boost caused by possibly bad bearings or whatever in the turbo or even total turbo failure lead to the car shutting down by safeguarding ECU shut down?
