Re: The comprehensive 4age thread

Can anyone tell me why the Crankshaft timing gear key would eat into the Timing gear like this? This is the second time this has happened.

I really don't want this happening again since i cannot source these timing gears locally

Re: The NZE Corolla Thread

Yep. Once its pressing In bad you can damage the actual hub. Would then fit the bearing slack. There's a certain way to press in inside. I use almost 3 tons to press in a bearing. .spin the hub while pressing it unfortunately i have no access to a press so i just have to hope the machine shops know...

Re: The NZE Corolla Thread

I changed the front wheel bearings on my 5yo local nze 3 mths ago. Now it sounds as if the bearings making noise again. Is that normal for wheel bearing to go bad in such a short period of time? And should i pay TTTL $675 a bearing to replace them with originals? Will be doing this just now, would ...

Re: The NZE Corolla Thread

This brings so many questions into play. Did you use original wheel bearings or substitute ? Who did the install for you and were they pressed in and out correctly ? Bearings don't go bad that quickly so something has to be investigated a bit. On the other hand, I have heard of persons experiencing...

Re: Post your engine oil / grade / price / location

JDM_GUY... Price for price i'd probably go RP in that case... Quaker State is a good oil but its not usually esteemed as one of the more expensive oils in the states, so if they are the same price the RP appears to be better value. That being said, what price is that? Isn't the point of the thread ...

Re: Post your engine oil / grade / price / location

In my local Toyota Corolla 2009 NZE141, I use Amsoil Signature Series 10W-30 in combination with Royal Purple Extended Life oil filter. Amsoil claims 15,000 miles (24,000 km) for severe conditions and 25,000 miles (40,000 km) for normal. Royal Purple Extend Life oil filter claims 12,000 miles (19,0...

Re: WTK bout the NZE 121

the gas depends on the engine. The manual says the only engine that requires Octane 95 (premium) is the 1NZ-FE, the other engine that comes with the NZE can use Super Octane 92 i'm actually reading the manual that came with the NZE121 corolla with a 1NZ-FE engine and the manual states OCTANE/CETANE...

Re: WTK bout the NZE 121

premiums gas not necessary, my wife nze121 going on 5 yrs on super gas with no power or engine issues. only issue we faced was changing the alternator bearing that started making noise.
Like most vehicles good maintenance prevents major problems.

Re: Alternator pulley

bolted it up, no noise from bearing. i'm a bit concerned that the charging voltage is 12 volts i know with my AE101 the battery charges at 14 volts when idling.
Can anyone confirm what an NZE alternator charges at. I never bothered to check before now.
