Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

Ay, folks. Picked up the amp today, hooked it up, back in business. Had to change subwoofer output to LFE+Main in the AVR settings, which I guess has something to do with the sub being passive (will go read up on what it means). The bass extraction LPF is 80hz. Let me know if there's anything I shou...

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

Go with a trustworthy brand. Most likely the specs on that no-name amp are exaggerated. Check the Dayton Audio, their stuff is legit. I doh know the brand, but the product looks well-regarded. Reviews on it are solid. paid_influencer, I had a moment where I genuinely considered it today eh, but nah.

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

You can go either way - add an amp to your existing sub if the sub and enclosure suit your needs OR get a powered sub. If you get an amp for your existing sub then check the speaker and see what amplifier will suit it You can look at one of these for around US$70 https://amzn.to/3C2UPYB Screenshot ...

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

Check Sound and Security in Valpark https://soundandsecurityexperience.com/product-category/home-audio/ That was the last place I passed by. Their cheapest amp was around $1500, and they didn't have any lower-end subs. So then I checked Subway, but like they closed down their Valpark branch. I call...

Or this Rockville Rock Shaker 6.5?

They both meet or surpass my old sub's specs.

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

get a powered sub. Is this. I called around to every major electronics/AV outlet, and passed through PriceSmart, Courts, Standard, PriceSmart, even Furniture Plus. Only higher grade subs and amps, or full speaker sets. So Amazon. The Onkyo subwoofer is a 8" 130 watt model, so I'm looking for s...

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

Lemme put it this way: The Onkyo system was always great, but I rarely pushed the volume up to anywhere near max. So if I can find a way to keep this sub, cool.

But if getting a powered ~100 watts sub for similar or lower cost, even better.

On to the next question  Does anywhere locally sell RCA to speaker wire adapters? The new receiver only takes an RCA subwoofer connection, but my subwoofer is a bare speaker wire type. I ordered this screw-in adapter and this male plug to bare cable end, but I'm open to buying one locally. (The...

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

So from the looks of it, I got it fixed. I had to use the resolutions listed under "PC" in the Nvidia Control Panel (instead of the same resolutions under "Ultra HD, HD, SD"). That might have been what I was overlooking. The resolutions under PC allow for 120hz, while some of the...

Connecting the PC directly to the TV via HDMI 2.1 enables 4K/120 and 1440/120 in the Nvidia Control Panel (which it couldn't do with older HDMI 1.4), so it's HDMI 2.0 capable. This customer review on Amazon describes what's happening: It will not go above 60 Hz in the PC gaming area, and the PC GPU ...

I did. Rebooted the PC too.

I have the PC directly connected to the TV now via the new cable, and it's doing 4K120. So I'll likely need to change something with how I set up the AVR.

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

So I upgraded to the Denon S570BT . My PC is connected via HDMI to the game port on the AVR, and my TV is connected to the AVR via the 120hz eARC port. I'm using these HDMI 2.1 cables , rated for 4K120. I've set everything up, audio is working, but video at both 4K and 1440p is limited to 60hz. The ...

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

Got it working with ARC. It uses the HDMI Out port for ARC, which I didn't even consider. Had to change a few other settings on the receiver itself (after looking up the manual), and set passthrough on the TV, and it works fine now.

Glad about that!

It will push signal to both devices simultaneously? The product description makes it sound like only one of the out devices can run at a time.

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

I just got a new Hisense 55U7G. Cool TV. It's hooked up to a PC.

I still have my old Onkyo HT-S3400. It doesn't do 4K. No problem. HDMI straight from PC to TV.

I want the Onkyo audio, though. Can I pass audio through the TV to the receiver and keep making use of those speakers?

Re: *** THE OFFICIAL HOME THEATER & AUDIO THREAD**

Folks, recommend me a decent 4K receiver that I can buy locally. Might not need speakers, as my Onkyo set still going strong. My set-up is a PC, a TV, and a console in a relatively small room. To be honest, I'm thinking of leaving receivers behind and using an HDMI switch and soundbar/subwoofer, but...

Folks, what are some steering wheel control options for a vehicle without built-in controls? It's for an older Corolla. So far I've been recommended a Metra ASWC Stalk . It's like an additional windscreen wiper controller, but only with audio controls. But I'm also interested in something more like ...
