You just don't add kerosene to a common rail system in Trinidad. Do a search and you will see what men use to treat diesel fuel here on this forum.

What I did was take out the sensor and put grey silicon around the seal and all leaks stop. When I got new seal from toyota I did likewise and no leaks to this day...almost 2 years later.

If you not considering going back after 40000kms why are you even bothering to go spend close to $5000 for a service?

Re: Tech Thread - Toyota Hilux...D4D and all older models.

@rainman...I never did any diesel flush by toyota. Got the 4x4 3.0. I told them my vehicle not smoking so need to do it. I change my fuel filter every 15000km anyway plus use redline on fill ups. And I always run my tank to empty...get approx 700 kms and $110 to fill up...every 4 days. Anyway what t...

@ rainman...my correction...dont think it was made specifically for the 1kd-ftv...however it has the same filtration properties as those water separators you see online in Australia. .if not better.

Re: 2006 D4D 3.0 4x4 Hilux - New Injectors - HKS F-Con D??

Caterpillar has a water/fuel separator for the 1kd-ftv. I called and they quoted a price of TT$800 with part being available within 5 days of placing order. For me I would go caterpillar any day plus its easier to purchase replacment filters here. I agree with bezman- almost every hilux/prado down u...

@ sweeks... I drive hard...but fluid not discolored etc...wondering if to change it at 40000 km make sense. Was considering 50000km to be honest. Van not used offroad so no high revs...plain highway driving

Re: Tech Thread - Toyota Hilux...D4D and all older models.

Coming up to my 40000km...is it beeter to use redline, mobil1 or amsoil type 4 tranny fluid as opppsed to the toyota bottled type 4 fluid. They all rated for type4 but was wondering if anyone used those synthetic tranny fluids before.

Thanks

@ haywire...define a lot of water. Did the water trap light illuminate on the dashboard? Questions: 1) does the white smoke occur only on mornings or every time u start? When my bt50 head had cracked the white smoke shake up of engine occurred at every start up and progressively got worse. 2) coolan...
