I am unsure... But when you bend iron you can never really bend it back to its original shape and it also tends to weaken it. Can a vehicle with moderate or severe damage take a second hit

You know +- 2kph (iirc) is the accuracy of the speed gun... So essentially to make sure that you are going above the speed limit they have to clock you 2kph above what the limit is.

Re: Tech Thread - Toyota Hilux...D4D and all older models.

So after hearing about the problems with our local diesel...I decided to experiment with my machine. Essentially treat the diesel like if it has a cetane rating of 40 and put additives accordingly to bring it up to recommended spec (48). Two observations since... Engine is quieter and it is more wil...

I'm unsure if autocorrect changed what you are saying but high beams are blinding to oncoming traffic even if properly adjusted (directed). Flash oncoming drivers, let them see what they are doing (or not see)... People on unlit roads usually get the idea quicker. the bulbs are not the problem the p...

Is the seven seater any bigger than the five seater... All the Santa fe's I have seen are 5 seater .. Both diesel and gas
Be wary of the diesel if you plan to keep it for longer than 100000 kms. At least based on the model just before the latest one

Re: High sulphur diesel endangering luxury vehicles

I am convinced the high sulphur content is not the problem. Both power service diesel kleen and redline 85 plus fuel additives claim to reduce wear in vehicle using ULSD to levels similar to high sulphur fuels. That tells me that the high sulphur content offers decent wear protection in the fuel sys...

What did you use as the lubricant when using your clay mitt. I take it the turtle wax ceramic hasn't reached here as yet. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Spray waxes don't really last that long... Yes it can make washing easier but not in the areas that take the most licks. Just as an FYI... There is another ...

Re: High sulphur diesel endangering luxury vehicles

So did some research and it is more vehicle specific than I thought. In regards to the hilux; the difference is 1.5 litres more oil and no sparkplugs for the diesel (depending on the oil you buy that could be as low as $50 or more than $200) BMW like for like, Oil capacity is the same for the 2.0l e...

Strange thing though... Nobody is complaining about sulphur causing their injectors to fail... Quite the opposite, the lack of sulphur (ulsd diesel) is causing injector failure in regions where they have it. So it's down to contamination and inadequate cetane

Re: When last have you visited the pitch lake?

It's really something when people complain about roads and don't understand what is going on. Short answer: bitumen is a liquid with a very very high viscosity. So the road in that area "sinks". Also big trucks driving on roads not designed for them, overloads it.

I inform people that if they don't have a mechanical bone in their body change their mind from owning a diesel powered vehicle/s. It requires more consistent care and attention. I usually put additives in my fuel every other fill-up; power service diesel kleen(current) and penray diesel fuel conditi...

Re: Meguires vs Mothers vs Turtle Ceramic spray on

I have only used CMX and I usually use it when I don't have a lot of time to do anything else. I apply it when I'm drying the vehicle. Durability is on the low side but it kinda depends on the exposure of the panel; quickest breakdown can be observed on the hood, roof and lower half of the doors and...
