Re: MISHI's Blog: Keep your cool!!!

While I can't say which one to use, I can say that Prestone has given me zero problems. The pump has never come out but the thermostat has. It looks just like a new one. The only reason it was inspected was, I saw someone else E7 that was rusted till it stuck open. Prestone is less than $60 a gallon...

Re: Help diagnose a CEL

I'll have to do that. this past week, she started hunting between 1100 and 1600 RPM when cold. The thing is, as soon as temp gauge reads 1/4 way, its like a switch and then she idles perfectly.

Re: Help diagnose a CEL

That and the screw kronik mentioned are the two good points of focus...though I've never played with the latter it's said to resolve many idle issues. Also, sometimes the sensor just needs some cleaning if you're car is older. Was any of this related to the super you put in or are they mutually exc...

Re: Pig rich with super.

I wouldn't use the patient... more like paranoid tuner. Getting the trims close to 5% was quick and easy. Getting all 3 trims under 3% is a PITA. I got a Walker o2 sensor of Amazon with the original harness for around 50USD which a lot less that the OEM one for 300USD. Seeing as I had to splice and ...

Re: Pig rich with super.

FWIW; I changed my Narrow Band Lamda (O2) sensor and rescaled my injectors on both super and premium. I believe that the composition of Super is so significantly different to premium that it warranted using an alternate fuel map with a different injector scaling.

Re: Help diagnose a CEL

Did it work? That should have fixed it...Tephra mod makes it simple to clear that cel. I've been getting IACV related cel on an VIII GSR (can't remember the code offhand)...cleared it and it comes back. Funny thing is the car idles well. Wondering if the screw on the base of the tb by the sensor ne...

Re: Help diagnose a CEL

I got the car scanned today. P0400 EGR. This confused me for 2 reasons. I pulled that EGR off years ago and it now decides to throw a hussy-fit! I tried Evoscan 2.8 with an Openport 2.0 cable after successfully trying the scanner; the DTS code came up. I set the EGR Test bit (P0401) to 0 and also Di...

Help diagnose a CEL

I have a CEL that comes back 5-10 mins after driving every time I clear it. If not cleared, it remains even after a restart. I used EvoScan 2.8 with a OpenPort 1.3 cable to display the DTS but both ODBII EFI and MUTII EFI return nothing. Only clearing the MUTII clears the CEL. Here a little history ...

Pig rich with super.

Was running late for work when the gas light came on. So I put a $40 super in my evo cause that's all the closest gas station had. After 10 mins the CEL came on. It threw a P0170 error. Looking at the STFT and LTFT, they were all maxed out at -25% and -12.5% respectively; with the exception of the H...

Re: Stock turbo... pushing the limits (Dyno Inside)

Nice numbers. Are you running Tephra V7? I've been playing with methanol too. It really helps with knock at 6k-7k rpm. It also all but cleared up some low load knock that simply refused to be tuned out. I've been getting away with 10L of meth on a tank of gas for the better part of this year. No ill...

Re: 4g63t v.s. 6a13tt?

I'd got with a 4G63T if only because a lot of work has been done on reverse engineering the ECU giving you plenty options to tune. The 6a13tt might be tunable but haven't seen any info on it.

The The 245/40r17 tore them up and 255/40r17 is in the process of tearing them out.

Re: Evo 7 tyre question

Used both 255/40R17 and 245/40R17 DZ101 on the stock rims. They both touch the stone shield which gets torn apart very easily. If my stone shield were still intact, I'd go back to stock 235/45R17 with some stickier tires. The 255/40R17 do feel nice threw a corner. The 245/40R17 not worth it imho.

Taken from said document: Your engine does not have any fuel efficiency requirement; you do not have a catalytic convert on your race engine either, so why run oil whose main focus doesn’t pertain to your needs? False Mobil 1 used to be considered such oil, but it has been many years since it was re...

Re: Post Your EVO HP/TQ and MODS Thread

Ron+Mon/2 = Anti-Knock Index (AKI) (what the North American folks use) Our 95 RON = 91 AKI. From what it worth, my n00b tuning got my car running knock free and smoothly on Super. She was lazy low down but felt pretty good above 5000 rmp (sorry no hard numbers). I'm sure an experienced tuner might h...

My 2¢ Most thread Windows apps don scal well beyond 4 cores. Well coded apps don't scale well beyond 16. HT may help here and there but not much. So 2 CPUs with HT disabled might have been a bette choice for cad. A Hardware Raid controller with more SSD would have given you more performance too. The...
