Re: My EVO 7 4G64 Budget Build - Stock Frame dyno results

Wow...that's crazy. My car has 100,000 km and 2 previous owners. My BBK full was installed by the original owner and has about 70,000km on it and is still running great. Interesting you mention this because I want to go BB on my next stock frame turbo but my friend was arguing that for a daily drive...

Re: My EVO 7 4G64 Budget Build - Stock Frame dyno results

Didn't know you ran a BBK-B (JB) and it failed or was it the 3B (BB)? How long was did it last and was it purchased new or used? These turbos are actually made by Blouche and seem to have a good reputation. I have a BBK (JB) in my evo and it's been an amazing turbo...50lbs/min and making 475whp on a...

Re: WTK: New tyres for EVO 9 - Suggestions?

Definitely check teknet...best supplier for all your evo needs. As for aftermarket radiator I run a Mishimoto for the last year and a half. Excellent fit and no issues to date. At $270 US price isn't bad either http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/images/D/mishimoto.jpg If you want to go baller my fav...

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

No one knows everything about tuning or tech work. I for one am no mechanic or tuner - just an enthusiast. We're all here to learn not so? I'm just giving my $0.02 as we're on a forum after all. I agree with you that the tune was likely too aggressive (torque wise...too much too soon is a rod killer...

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

You could argue that your statement was meant just in context to Banzai's question and not Aaron's engine failure. Even so I wouldn't agree with your point. The average meth kit triggers off of boost, tps or idc. You don't need meth in low load situations because the knock resistance of gasoline is ...

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

What about "bad" gas? well I'm a victim of it...the IAM was on 16 Aaron's motor blew (shitty but it happens). He believes the cause to be bad gas and aggressive tune (reasonable claim but based on what he says doesn't make sense) Wouldn't running Meth nullify any problems with octane? Reg...

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

What load/boost were you hitting when it happened? You see I don't think it had anything to do with the gas or meth....I think one of two things: either mbt was exceeded or mbt was achieved and but there was too much torque at peak load. If the IAM is 16 that means the ECU is happy...no knock and in...

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

You are not going to blow a motor at or under 7psi even on shitty gas with an ignition advance multiplier at 16  7 psi is baby load values....turbo is barely spinning and the pistons+rods are not seeing anything near the forces they see at 25psi (in regards to 16cycles point)

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

its a fact these engines weak when compared to its rival- the 4G63 And this is why I thought the discussion is necessary. Most break because of mechanical failure or errors with the tune which lead to failure. ... I have personally seen a few local cars over 300hp on stock internals, mine included....

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

I was referring to kjaglal76v2 comment about Subaru's catching up. In this particular case, it's a stock motor so most of the issues related to "mechs" or "rebuilding" are irrelevant. This is a tuner dependent scenario. I'll also touch on your other comments as they are also som...

Re: TriniGT's Project R32 GTR - Fuel Setup On The Way!!!

Many do the rear head to sump setup but for a good engine it should not be needed. I am simply running from the rear of the cam covers to the catchcan and then from the catchcan to the sump. I have been speaking with Rob from RIPS on it and he guarantees it will be fine. Rob from RIPS....can't get ...

Re: The Truth Behind The Subaru EJ-Series Engines -

It usualy makes corrections by either (1) cutting timing in individual RPM/Load cells (by FLKC or FBKC) or across the board (IAM reduction). (2) If the IAM drops low enough it will throw the vehicle in safe mode and activate wastegate boost. The 02 senor is narrow band and it would add/cut fuel in ...

Re: My EVO 7 4G64 Budget Build- Fuel Upgrades and some

Nice, I run those exact injectors in my car. They are ease to dial in and very smooth idle during idle and open loop. I have pump gas scaling and latencies that should get your trims withing -/+ 5 if you want.

Re: WTK AVG price of Evo IX

VI TME or VI RS2 > Evo IX GSR or GT (unicorn) for JDM market or SE for US (5 speed FTW) > Evo VIII GSR Anything with the 6 speed, ie MR doesn't even make it in the list. A fun evo starts around 400whp and the 6 speed can't take much more than that. As far as the X...if you want a sports car with a ...

Re: My EVO 7 4G64 Budget Build- Tuned on 20 PSI !!!

I was in a similar scenario to yours until we got e85 here. Crappy gas at the pump and going to run meth to compensate. I think running the meth kit on all the time is unnecessary. When you are driving you are either driving for economy (premium) or pleasure/performance (premium+meth). My thoughts a...
