Re: Questions for Offroaders/mechanics.

I recommend a lift kit.

You can check the guys at Built for Brutality offroad. The kits are the most reasonably priced installed.

I recommend a 3" body lift and a suspension leveling lift.

More info can be obtained from Don at 687-5713

Re: Questions for Offroaders/mechanics.

Hey man.

I actually have a 2.5L manual and it works great off-road - pushing 33" wheels.

With respect to the LSD, from the factory the rear comes with the function, but I don't think there's any for the front diff.

Why don't you consider a Front Diff-locker from ARB?

Re: NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL (RESOLVED FINALLY)

In conclusion, the issue has been sorted out. The forks in the transfer case move on the head shaft with grooves. As the actuator turns the shaft head turns and the forks ride up and down the grooves for 2W - 4H - 4L. This head is held by a small open ended ring. In the case of my van, the ring slip...

Re: SideB Independence Run 31/8/14

Guys, any chance you all have a google map of where we'd be trailing through?

I'm checking it now and I assume that it's somewhere in the patch of greenery between tabaquite and piparo.

(Sorry, newbie here..)

Re: NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL (STILL)

Ok folks, I was trying to test the 4WD and then I heard a clunk and the case slipped back in Neutral. I probably drove about 10 feet and it happenned. So it's back by another mecahnic. This mechanic is an old N&M specialist so he has the experience. He checked the electronic system and ran diagn...

What about the rusting issue with those local shops? I was thinking an aftermarket product would be rust resistant.

EOI: Skid plates (underbody protection)

Folks, Based on my experience with the Navara, it seems that there are a number of electronic parts exposed below the van - especially the 4x4 switches. So I'm looking to install some underbody protection. I've attached a pic below of what I'm looking for. Question is, does anyone know if it's distr...

Re: SideB Independence Run 31/8/14

Guys, what are your recommendations it terms of preparation for the beginner driver to the group? I know there's a thread on preparation, but what are the bare essentials other than what Lighthammer had outlined? Vehicle is stock with some A/T's btw!

Re: RESOLVED: NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL

Sorry guys, seems that the message I typed explaining the fix wasn't posted. The fix was to remove the solenoids on the transfer case and move a shaft back to the 2W position. This reset the transfer case back to 2W. From then everything was functional again. I tried the 4W last night in a lil field...

Re: RESOLVED: NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL

Seems that I flipped from 4H to 4LO and pulled off too quickly, so the system got locked or something so. From our analysis, we confused the system. The Navara's transfer case selection is very sensitive. So from what I gather: - 2W to 4H can be changed on the fly, wheels need to be spinning under 6...

Re: RESOLVED: NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL

I'm actually going to check one of those Senior Tech's for him to give me the final ok that everything is working fine, but my mechanic did well in troubleshooting with his limited experience in the electronic TC.

Looking forward to some mudding soon again!

Re: HELP!! NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL

4LO icon with the four wheels blink when the selector is in 2H and 4H, then when in 4LO the icon disappears and the 4WD warning light comes on.

When I mash the clutch, warning light disappears but system is still non functional.

Re: HELP!! NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL

Thanks for the help lighthammer. I know I should not have driven in 4LO but for the sake of safety for my family I did what I had to do, paying for it now i guess lol. The van is totally immobile. It was able to drive in 4LO after the mechanic took down the gearbox but then it went dead again, so I ...

NAVARA TRANSFER CASE STUCK IN NEUTRAL (RESOLVED FINALLY)

Hi guys, So here's the deal. Went mudding last week in Las Cuervas and coming out of the trail my Nissan Navara D40 was locked in 4LO. At this point the 4LO icon on the dash kept blinking and I could not move the vehicle once it was switched out of 4LO. Tried playing with the switch a couple of time...
