Re: The guitar string (thread)

Duane you should have no problems with your diy efforts. Just loosen or remove strings, unscrew the pickguard, trans-plant in the new parts and carefully follow the logic of the diagram, being careful with the tone controls wiring, which often vary from one diagram to the next. Also when soldering, ...

mecalli - I recently got and refurbished my first mcintosh, good stuff, what models do you have? Galvatron - for my own sanity I have limited what gear I am dealing with, and I hoped enough other people around could be able to deal with transistor amps, but I am not sure if that is happening. I'm Kr...

Re: The guitar string (thread)

Happy to see this thread still alive. The floyd rose is a pain because there is no inherent tuning stability, if you change one string, or it bursts, or you change string gauges, the pivoting bridge plate shifts its rest position. Even bending one note, lowers the tuning of the others, as the bendin...

Re: Painting ply

Do what Sunmoon says, then to make life easy, try a satin finish acrylic latex interior paint (i've been using one from Sherwyn W) applied with a 4" wide foam type roller. You wouldn't believe what a nice even coat you get on wood with this application, no brushmarks or spray setup hassle. The ...

Re: Audi R8 is no more....

I was on the scene shortly after. Just took the corner a lil hard. Thank god no one was injured or other vehicles damaged etc. No drunkenness. The lamppost didnt even have a dent. That R8 is built very delicately and shattered a bit behind the front right wheel taking most óf the impact on the curb,...

Long Circular Rd is the funeral hub of POS, from either military parade from the barracks to the graveyard, crematorium, or assumption church. It is also now the j'ouvert hub, unfortunately.

Some Arrive Alive wrecks have been placed here and there as arse driving deterrents, there's one at maracas, if you see any wrecks that don't quite make sense, it might be one of them.

Re: Choice in paint brands

The best paint for our climate is Berger, by a good margin. It is understood that SW is scooping up customers with their big sales, but you could easily lose back your 30% in the lifetime between recoats, or how well it holds up, etc. The point about colour selection is moot because Berger coloursho...

Epiphones and other Korean and far east guitars really are fantastic value, there is no question. But be prepared to replace the occasional volume pot or pickup switch, or try different tones with new pickups, normal stuff.

Re: The guitar string (thread)

Gibson is still great stuff when you are paying $3000us and up, the 'cheaper' models 800-2000 range suffer from corner cutting in the fretwork and paintjob, I often see these models show up brand new with very roughly sanded fretboards, file marks on the frets and binding, fine scratches and unbuffe...

Re: Trinimini..is this true?

People drive onto this beach every weekend, usually it's 4x4 pickups. The signs are sometimes criticised as being small, but they are strategically placed in two spots of the 'carpark' in such locations so that if you do not see the signs, your eyesight must be so poor that you should not be driving...

I was the stuck LRD :( I chose a bad line and went down into about 18" of mud on my right side, broke a front axle at some point while trying to maneuver out, and was then stuck in RWD.
Much thanks to Side-B for showing up at that very moment and getting me out!

Re: 2012 Ford Ranger Heavy t license required?

You can convert the Land Rover from T to P with accompanying mods, a friend of mine is changing his defender from a pickup tray with softtop to full wagon body, and thus going from T to P, for whatever reason.

Isn't the insurance cost higher on a T than a P for the same value vehicle?

Re: The guitar string (thread)

Whats the budget? My advice is to chase tone and not features, you will get more quality sound and reliability from a simple amp than a complex featured amp at any given pricepoint, features like fx loop and triode switching are moot when you dont even need to use them (from your description of hard...
