I getting prices around $7000, $8000 for a used box, one week/month warranty not really cutting it either, so I may be worse off.
If I rebuild, at least I know what was done.

Rebuild or replace-B16A gearbox

First the diff broke and we replaced it.
Now it looks like a gear stripped, can't say 4 sure til we open it.
Should I look 4 a new/used box or repair this one?

X2 , the noise becomes more high pitched the higher you rev and the faster you go. Once the cars speed stabilizes, the hum is there but less noticeable, sometimes to the point where it is almost gone. (ie when you are no longer accelerating) The hum is also gone the second you clutch, but is heard ...

Humming B18A gearbox

Fellas, I finally back up an runnin but the damn gearbox sounding like a supercharger!
Mechanic says that the diff we replaced has a different number of teeth on the crown and this is causing the high pitched hum.
He believes it will "wear in".
Any advice.

Toying with the idea of 7 - 9 psi. What concerns me is the fact that everyone I speak to: 1) have a heap of spare parts park up waiting for someting to go wrong and 2) always get power hungry and over-do the boost thing. Read some good DIY stuff and other testemonials from the states so it seems lik...
