Re: Synthetic oil for GA15 engine

If you don't race or drive hard then it is waste of money.
Get a decent quality conventional oil and keep up with your oil change intervals. Put the money elsewhere

Were you messing with the plug gap on the LFR7AIX?

Re: Subaru conversion question

Everything would bolt in but you would need -
Motor and all peripherals.
Engine and dash harness.
ECU and if applicable BIU and skim key .

So simplify the swap, find a wrecked WRX or STI and swap engine and dash.

Re: The Tuning Thread- EJ Motor

Tapped em, threaded the bolts, measured the bolts, cut the bolts almost flush and then threaded up with jb weld. Grinded them down after. Some minor porting done. Tgv's and runners reinstalled. Sender for oil pressure gauge in, wideband in, coolant temp and meth kit next. So far so good. Upgraded t...

Re: The Tuning Thread- EJ Motor

air wick told me the same thing about the FMIC vs the TMIC. TMIC gets heat soaked easy in the hot sun and traffic. You two have me wondering now. TMIC isn't the be all end all. TMIC still has its benefits and has proven reliable. Heat soak is a pain to deal with at slow speeds but once you're movin...

Ever fixed this issue? I'm getting the low idle 500-600at times but I'll blame the solid mounts for that I'm running rich since installing an aem fpr. Will try the 36psi idle Also I recently began to get a hunt at idle Running avenir w11 Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk Solid mounts have NOTHIN...

Re: The Tuning Thread- EJ Motor

I'm running the Dom 2.5xtr (10cm) on my 2.5L. The response was great and I had full boost by 3500rpm.
I've talked to Blouch and a 3.0 upgrade maybe on the way.

My friend is running the 3076 on his hybrid and he was having full spool by 3800ish. His setup wasn't ideal though.

Auto or manual?
Vacuum/Boost leak?
Stock wastegate is about 7psi if I remember right. No way the ECU could intentionally run anything less than that.

Re: The Tuning Thread- EJ Motor

Did you back off the throttle right after max torque?
That's alot of torque early on! Either your torque is calculated incorrectly (sloped road?) or you're pushing a lot timing to spool that turbo (stock?) so early.
What's the setup?

Re: The Tuning Thread- EJ Motor

10.5 with the cooling benefits of meth injection might be a bit too conservative in many regards, providing you aren't running a shitload of timing. With my current tune, my Wrx seemed to like 11-11.1 relatively well. Regarding the Cobb platform. I don't think they support JDM ECU definitions. Yea,...

Re: The Tuning Thread- EJ Motor

As for the GD Swap, you can do a conversion to use a GD ECU on a GC8, it has been done, i've seen the entire process stage by stage. It is also better to do so, as it is as if you are more or less upgrading certain items in your car. A full GD engine and dash harness along with the ECU would be the...

Re: Boost guys, where can I get this locally?

Nah, that's the factory vacuum port to the a/c idle-up that I had to repair. I had no say in the design. You're saying I should probably just use a 2.75" silicone hose instead though? Ohhh gotcha. I thought you were tapping in a vacuum port for something else. Do the Corollas have an external ...

Thanks but will it cause any damage to the engine later on Without proper tuning it would be ticking time bomb. Also the short block casting maybe the same but the internals are not. The pistons and oil pump are definitely different. Maybe the connecting rods to, I'd assume so. The DET block probab...

I'm curious as to why you would tap there for a vacuum port?

I wouldn't do SS pipe. It'll heatsoak like crazy.

I don't think turbo subarus came with a MAP sensor. They're all MAFs.

I recently installed an AEM Wideband and A/F ratio at idle was averaged to be 14.7±0.2 and 10.0 at WOT. The WOT A/F ratio seems to be quite rich which prompted my question regarding running LOWER than stock boost pressures and its effect on the ability of the ECU to compensate effectively. Prompt r...
