Difference between ek3 and ek4 shocks ?

Postby Legis » July 17th, 2012, 8:50 am

Fellas is there a difference between ek 3 and ek 4 shocks ? I currently own an ek4 and was told that if I buy EK 3 shocks my car will be higher, however all the places I have called does not seem to identify a difference between both.

Also where can i get some affordable drop springs as I was told that coilovers give the car a very stiff /rough ride.

Your comments will be appreciated.

the spring rates differ, so i assume the shocks will be designed to compensate for same..dont quote me on that though.

coilovers do not "give a car a stiff/rough ride" .. just like regular springs and shocks, there are coilovers with different ride properties and it would be best for you to do some research on this before purchase

they will, however, give the car a firmer ride than stock..i started on coilovers a few yrs ago and never looked back

coilovers:
tein basics will give you that nice smooth ride without being too harsh
some models tanabe as well 8)

drop springs:
i recommend tein h tech if u wanna get lowered without it being stiff..megan racing is supposed to be good entry level as well

but at the end of the day, do some research on spring rates and how they affect handling before you make your decision
