yes, red_dragon... an H22 with a 100shot or more would OwN AllZ.

but 25k into a sohc D with good gearing and axles is actually a great option... the sohc engine is under valued and always has been.... when boosted, sohc engines (1.6) can make torque figures almost equal to their hp figures.... you won't find that on a K20 !

25 k for a proper build of a d15 sounds good. What type of output figures u guys estimate with a build like that? 210 to 230?

i saw a d16 vtec put down 200+ hp 7 psi boost water meth simple bolt ons and it didnt cost $25k

the main thing about this build was buying GOOD parts , a Good tune and parts you need

RAm horn manifold

do alot of research on turbos and choose one to suit your build dont go big becuz the "crowd' says go big

water meth very important so u can go up in boost and still run safe

Choose a good inter cooler not a large "good looking Fridge " chances are u will buy a large cooler to take up the front of the car , again research inter cooler sizes etc

Tuning very important .......... go by sum1 who has experience in tuning , not those wanna be tuners who learn from trial and error , get references from past cars/owners they tune to know if this guy makes power or hes jus plays around , this aspect of the build is very important

as if the tuner cannot make power it will turn you off from the build or he mite damage the engine

as Gobin from the subaru world told me ask dem " are you qualified to destroy a $150k car ? or trained to make power " and listen to a reply

so it all depends on the road you take and the parts you installl ........

^^^ Good info. In the research and contemplation phase right now as funds need to be accumulated first. If I do decide to turbo, the car will not be built to be a race car as that is not my intention. I have a very solid platform to build on, (99 hatch in best mechanical, interior and body condition). Car will just be built for my simple, tasteful enjoyment.
BTW, average price on a full gearbox swap? S20 or S40?. Car is D15b non vtec CVT at the moment not d16.

s20 / s40 gear boxes are different ,box conversion may run u about $4000 max , you will also need a cvt to gear box bracket , innovative sells it for about $100usd , the 99 hatch is a good platform to start with , i saw a BWR ram horn manifold by tuner imports cant remember if its b/d , its ac friendly also ....

u will need management , s300 is a good way to go ebay sells them for about $500 usd already in a ecu sometimes u get it cheaper, bought one on ebay already no problems with it ,AEM is a good way to go also , tuner imports have Kinugawa turbos , but if u working with a budget u can buy a sr20 turbo ... the car will need to be wired over also . kunta 745 2253 best ther is ...

Ah want to do ah RTi project. Heard the CRV box work but the long gears is ah waste of time... ah know it have H2B gearbox conversion kits but ah was wondering if it will work for ah H22a4 onna RTi AWD box. Ah know the box and diff will need work to take more than 400hp but once it could mesh and slap in some phantom grips!!! (((BOOM)))

Unless you plan on making over 250whp... trying to do an AWD conversion is just for flam and not for the faint of heart. Significant fabrication is needed... so it's not a great project to jump into unless you are really into DIY and downtime... last guy I know that did one took almost the whole year and he owns a performance shop.

A straight up K20 swap would own most cars on the road anyway.... but you could always mail $25k USD to B&C for a K series AWD project...and say ya built it...

Well I think with the EK5 RTi AWD as the platform the next step will be to get ah engine to mesh with it... Maybe ah B18c or H22a4 with ah turbo... Could be an interesting project... But it doesnt seem ah getting the EK5 to buy so... FWD it will be...
