B20 swap help

Postby kidlex » May 19th, 2015, 7:45 am

I am going the route of swapping a stock b20 into my ek4 for now,
as i am getting a 99-00 head and block for a good price.
and want to know if I purchase the head and block whether or not
parts like the distributor, alternator, power steering pump etc
will bolt on without issues and would i be able to swap my
b16a harness onto the b20 to keep it obd2a

u gonna run the b20 auto or manual ?

if manual shift 6500

watch a CRV cluster

the b16a ecu is not gonna supply enough fuel and timing gonna be wrong. You can do more harm than good

The complete b20 engine no gonna survive a rev limit over 6500. You will float a valve and kill the engine

Most of the accessories and ancillaries will bolt up from b16 to b20... alternator, dizzy, power steering, a/c. Brackets might be different for a/c if I recall... some parts won't... like the intake manifold.

But little details will be off, such as different pulley size on b20 vs b16... the distributor for a b16a runs a different Ignition control module so pre programmed dwell time will not be for the b20... and you may well blow the ICM or coil.

By all means... read up online on the details as almost everything to do with a B swap has been covered online many times over... honda-tech.com or superhonda.com might be able to help with research resource too.

Engine works good, was pretty straightforward as I did the swap myself along with some friends.

Bought a manual head with intake(low port) and block with harness and brain(about 3500), but end up reusing my original harness and also had to buy a powersteering pump and bracket as they are different to the one I had, everything else like alternator, throttle body etc I had already.

Is there a manual transmission conversion available locally. What is the engine code? Or will any b series conversion work? Thanks for the info bro. Exploring some options. Currently have a d15 non vtec automatic (need more fun)
