ES Engine Swap?

Postby fras » March 14th, 2016, 11:01 pm

The engine in my cousin's car went bad (1.5 vtec) so he bought a 1.7 vtec head, block & ecu... Now the car wouldn't start with the 1.7 ecu!

Possible solutions?

Isn't the key coded to the ecu for those cars?

A K20A conversion would be a really nice option in this chassis.

Use back the original 1.5 ecu to run the 1.7 engine...

Try the 1.5 ecu and see if it starts if it does then you need someone to program the key

When it wasn't starting you should've been seeing a key flashing on the dash. If it kept on flashing it means the immobilizer system not recognizing the key. You would need to get the brain and key synced inorder for it to work. Ask places that do chip keys if they can help. Open to correction.
