WTK: EK3 Msd kit?

Postby Ramkiller1 » April 4th, 2017, 2:02 pm

I have a 97 ek3 stock d15z4 engine. My distributor blew, mechanic gave me a foreign used one but I don't think it's the same for my car. I was given a msd kit http://m.ebay.com/itm/360392208441?_mwBanner=1
Another mechanic told me it would work with my car, all I need is the original distributor.
Is this true?

While I was driving, it stopped working to the point I would mash the gas and nothing would happen. I got my car to the mechanic the same day, he tumbled it many times but no start. Changed the distributor (had a foreign used one ), then the car worked,

When my engine died and wouldn't idle anymore...I didn't have any spark. With everything else working it was either the coil or the ignition module that failed. (It ended up being the coil... Thanks Jason)
Now I do not know how different the d15z4 is from the b16a but that msd cap looks similar to the original on mine. The msd distributor cap allows the use of a bigger external ignition coil.
