D15b help

Postby Racerheart » September 16th, 2017, 10:02 pm

Good day pplz. I have a d15b 3stage vtec. A while now im getting this low idle problem and a significant power loss compared to when i bought the vehicle.
Ive changed oil, plug wires, plugs (about 8mnths ago), distributor coil. And so far nothing. When idle gets low(almost dies) the iacv brings it bk up. I tried adjusting the idle screw but idle still goes low again. Any suggestions?

Remove the tb with iacv. Remove the iacv off the tb. Thorougly clean the tb. Disassemble and thoroughly clean the iacv. Make sure the valve spins freely when you are done. Reassemble and reinstall.

I use the berryman tb cleaner. Works fine for me

If you want to be thorough, you could also remove the intake manifold and clean that out as soot tends to build up inside that over time. I just soak repeatedly with purple blaster and that works.

Also, replace the pcv valve one time. $40 by most parts place

I've had multiple hondas and this always worked for me with low idle issues.

If the idle fluctuates, check for a vacuum leak...

Btw. 1 key point i forgot to mention. This low idle only happens when the car reaches operating temp. When cold it idles at the target rpm. As soon as its warming up, the idle starts to drop. But i could still try the cleaning process. Because right now i dont know where else to turn.
