Honda Genuine Oil

Anyone know any retailers for Honda Genuine fully synthetic oil 0w 20?

Saw Ansa motors pouring Total either 0w 30 or 5w 30 into my 1.5 turbo civic and would prefer to go with the Honda branded 0w 20.

I saw that they switched from Chevron to Total and did not say a word about. Chevron was approved by Honda since CM used to have a banner stating that. Even the reminder sticker has the Chevron logo. For my 1.8 civic I am looking at moving over to Amsoil 100% synthetic since the manual says, "any API service SL or higher". Based on my recent experience with the dealership, I am walking away for general servicing and will only deal with them for a major repair. Stocks of the Honda brand are hard to find and Raja's on the Saddle Rd. had sometime ago. I don't know if they still have. 674-2671 is the contact. Also, make sure you use what the manual states in terms of the viscosity. Here is the chart for my vehicle.

sheriff's in south usually has. Honda oil is blended by conoco and is a mineral based oil

Thanks! From what I found on amazon they have two grades of the Honda genuine stuff for 0W-20. There is the fully synthetic and the synthetic blend.

You can check Parts Marketing in El Socorro. Saw they had Toyota original engine oil they other day, so they may have the Honda as well.

Is Honda original oil a re-branded oil? Or are there special additives in there?

Is it synthetic? What are the service intervals for it?

Honda used to get its oil from Mobil and then Idemitsu Lubricants did it. I do not know if this is still the case as mentioned above by another member. My manual expressly stated that no additives are needed once you use the specified oil in the chart though Honda oil is recommended. That's marketing since the dealership does not use Honda engine oil.

It is a synthetic blend and it is good for our local conditions for 6 months/5,000kms severe conditions or 1 year/10,000kms normal conditions whichever comes first. This applies to any synthetic blend API rating or higher. Honda deems severe conditions as one or more of the following:
Less than 8km/trip.
Temps. over 35 deg. C.
Extensive idling or heavy stop and go driving.
Loaded roof racks and regular mountainous roads.
Muddy and dusty roads.

On another night note, but similar topic ....the local BMW dealer went from castrol to BMW twin turbo to shell engine oil

Castrol blend BMW oil....

When they are out of stock in BMW branded oil they buy shell or another product that meet the BMW longlife spec....

Dealerships will do servicing that is not required to make money and the same goes for many mechanics out there (not all).

Yup, the dealership changed coolant and plugs at 5 years when it is at 10yrs or 100,000kms. Neither of those were met but they said preventative work and issues would arise if it was not done to plant concern in my mind. Makes one wonder if it was even done. I wrote the manager at the dealership about this and was offered a free detail. I declined. This is not limited to TT though.

remember the driving style in trinidad fall under severe conditions...

my first oil change on my msport with the factory fill oil, before the first 10,000km my car started loosing about 1/4 of a quart of oil, switched over the synpower and never had an issue..

BMW has no dipstick .... so I guess the onboard computer was telling the oil level was low.

I fall into that category... And it's pretty simple... I didn't see anything in my owners manual for replacing transmission fluid.... That doesn't mean that the fluid will last forever... So I change atf fluid like I do with my old ek civic... Every 30000kms drain and refill. This only replaces about one third of the fluid in the system as the torque converter holds quite a lot. This system isn't filtered and it is better than doing nothing.... And I also do this with the power steering fluid (every oil change)

Chaos how often do you change the oil in your Civic currently (at what mileage) and are you seriously planning on using 0w20
Would like to know how that goes

Every 6 months or 10,000 KM according to ANSA, But the manual says for extreme conditions change according to the oil quality monitor in the dash, it monitors the oil and tell you when to service. If follow then oil changes every 7 to 8K KMs.
The manual actually says to use 0W-20 as the engine is designed to run low friction oil but you can use 0W-30/35 or 5w-30. I figure Ansa uses the 30 stuff cause this is the first car they have that uses 0W-20.
