^^Price seems a bit high :?
I could get a bottle of Syntec Blend for like 47 TTD in Stackhouse IIRC.

^^Just an update. The reason Total oil is relatively reasonable is cause NP is making it under license.Went to Stackhouse & they do have the oil approx $40 cheaper but the syntec is 5w 50.

They also carry the shell & total line.

Was also in p/smart & they now have the castrol magnatec 20w 50 for $150 / gallon.

Clarify your statement Chemical, NP only makes the Total Quartz 5000, I don't think they make the 7000 but its possible..

The Quartz 9000 synthetic is imported direct from France and is usually found in 5w-40
I usually pay around $180 or $190 for 4 Liters of it, aka 4.25 qt's or so..

That said, locally mixed by NP may not be such a bad thing.. Think about it, the Shell Helix Plus (blue bottle) and the Shell Rimula oils are locally made and they are excellent.. I can vouch for this from experience..

If I am not mistaken, with the old Shell products the only import was the Shell Helix Ultra..

$166. for Castrol Magnatec and BOSCH oil filter. (Mathura's in St. James)

It's been in a Tiida 2 days now, engine has normal carbon build-up and the oil is still clear. The vehicle heats up a little quicker though and runs a bit smoother. Won't know how it stands up because the oil is usually changed promptly at 4,000kms

Depends on the vehicle and your personal preference.. When I used to use the old Shell Helix Plus (blue bottle) or Castrol Syn Blend I would run it to about 7000km... I think thats a bit on the high side but the car was driving mostly highway at the time

When I used to use the Castrol Syntec Blend, I only ran it for 5000kms.. engine had over 230,000kms on it and it oil showed signs of wear (smelt and looked kinda burnt).. the oil did it job quite well though because I am now at 260,000kms and the engine hardly burns oil..

I am using Amsoil 15W40 now btw.. changing every 10,000kms, filter every 5000kms..

Was just checking the feasibility between using a blend or full synthetic for my car as my objective is to get most KM between changes

then go with the full synth = 10,000 km interval. match that with a good long-life filter and you have no worries!

i used to use the Mitsu OEM filter for 10,000km no probs (fingers crossed) until i found the Royal Purple filter (which i used for the first time last change)...

well u see i pay 150 for a gallon of shell synthetic blend and i can get up to 6500-7000k's with that
so 2 changes = 13,000k's which costs 300.00
average full synthetic costs 275 and more
so im getting 3000k's for an extra 25$

im using Eneos 5w40 and i am running it to 14000km.did 2 filter changes (luberfiner) supposed to do 3 missed one, changing the oil this week anyways.the oil is still golden with some blackness but in good condition with no burnt smell.bought the luberfiner from big Z by the Case cost about $18 each last year october/november-dont know if price has risen since.same filter working in my wingroad and my sis-in-law civic.Eneos 5w40 cost $70 per quart from yakuza.would start buying the royal purple filter though it makes sense with full synthetic.

X-Factor, I can't say I agree with that..
I usually would pay about ~$200 for 4 liters of Total Quartz 9000, ie. Synthetic for what I consider marginally more than blend (which is usually only 25% syn anyway)..

Has the new line of mobil oils come to trinidad as yet?
It seems that they have done away with the Clean 5000 and Clean 7500 products, and instead have Super.. and then Super Synthetic..
I bought a 5qt jug the other day in walmart of the super for $13 US... not bad at alll

one question, i normally use castrol gtx mineral 20W50 in my b13, was told that the thicker oil will increase friction and cause the car to respond lazy (sometimes its lazy a bit) as the oil is too thick when cold, could i use a less viscosity oil like 10W40 in that car? i heard that the thinner oil might cause the vehicle to smoke...any thoughts on this? thnks!

Usually I end up doing only about 6000km, but that's over the course of usually 5 or 6 month oil change intervals..

I am seldom in the country to use the car, so whenever I am around I usually have a round of oil changes on all the vehicles...

I'm fairly sure that you would be safe doing 7500km on the TQ 9000 no problems...
It serves its purpose well for me, and has done excellently to help desludge my engine.. A slow process which may take years considering how bad things were
