situation: there is paint painted over a piece of chrome.
problem: how do i remove the paint without damaging the chrome?

if i use paint remover, wat do i use to scrape of the paint after it swells? 'so that the chrome isn't damaged?

if it really is "chrome" u can probably use a sharp knife to scrape off the paint. if its plastic with some "chrome coating" then maybe thinners.

if it really is chrome a heat gun will bubble the paint easily and not damage the chrome

well i use paint remover in a plastic container already and it didn't melt.

best bet will be to try it on a small surface first (like one drop on the painted surface)
if it works and after washing it off there is no damage to the grill then you can (i suppose) continue using the paint remover. Trinity has a paint remover that works well and you can get in any hardware (i used it when i was stripping all the paint from my car engine bay) but it does burn your skin and a latex gloves will not work.

try using paint stripper its the gel type, just apply it and wait 10 minutes then take a damp cloth and just wipe off the paint, i did it on some rims and it work real good.

before using chrome paint on a surface(plastic) , is it recommended to base coat it with anything? or even base it with white paint?
