worn or damaged clutches, maybe?
Rebuilding a GA trans will cost 3-4 times more than the cost of a used bamboo unit.

as vexx dog said worn or damaged clutches....
i've seen lots of good transmission fail due to sloppy maintainance. men REFUSE to change transmission oil sayin "dan dem ting make for 100,000 miles and ting..." this time the oil black like tar baby...

and when it fail they go say doh buy XYZ..transmission does fail too much.

search the bamboo and get a good F used transmission..and install it with proper oil...and external oil cooler...and be happy.

its supposed to react with the seals and cause them to swell and hence if they were leaking it can stop the leak or minimize it. Not sure about the quantity or accuracy of this

Do you hear any type of humming sound from the tranny?
Can be a bad converter.

Perhaps slackenthe kick down cable if it's to tight it will hold 1st gear a long time.... Since u said it's tied..untie it... make Change normal but will b lazy without the.kick down cable tensioned correctly
