Not because the man take a day and a half the 800 is justified.

at my peak i could of done that in 3-4 hours. You would still pay the 800 if the guy had done it in under 4 hours?

People does call me for advice, i help when i could. Helped a m rampersad employee fixed a van that was parked down for almost 4 months. He swapped injectors, pump, checked compression ect ect ect. small problem and i figured it out over the phone. He had scan tools ect. I never saw the van as yet. Same guy, i linked him with some 3.2/2.2 fords mazda manuals, navara ect. I sure whenever i call upon him, he ready for whatever. Had some problems with a pathfinder and he advised me and helped me out too.

When i was in school, i used to do alot of sidejobs, charged small money because Hey, im not a big shop. Helped alot of people out and i still do. But days for that done, You have to show me you actually trying and ill throw my 2c. Plenty people who i helped out go by big garages now to do their services, could of barely afford to pay me before , but i actually fixed the problem when nobody could. Hey thats the way the place work.

at my peak i used to have 3-4 vehicles every two weeks to work on, now once a month?
i now charge a hundred a hour or any part of.

eg i changed oil, tappet pan cover gasket, checked brakes and rotated tires on a 200jk, Used a entire can of brake at 40$ clean and charged 175$, got it back in a little over a hour.

Skylinechild, link some of the bushings for the wipers for me, same k12 march.

Ted I never said $ 800 and two days.. i sayd $800 and a day and a half.... the half day was due to him not having the exhaust hanger rubbers and steel braided lines on hand... i had to go get those items for him.

if he had ALL stuff on hand it would have been done in one day...i dont live in south - i live central and to go sando during peak time to trinidad hose and then WAIT for the braided lines and and back is time consuming.....and then going to billy in chase village to get those rubbers....and then back to my mech....

if my mech take 4 hrs to do the same job and still charge $800 it makes no difference to me.....to be honest i dont cry down price like some tuners.....either u see the price like it and do business...or suck salt and move on

i also have a working relationship with my mech....he also doesnt follow any set in stone standard pricing scheme as far as i know - i could be wrong -
perks of having your own garage i guess.....

he replaced all 4 cradles on my car today..... and only charged me $400...even went to get it as well with me.

and with the K12 bushings...i bought the entire wiper arm assembly new from japan.... it took about 3 weeks to get here....u wanna wait 3 weeks or more now ???

Unfair as one sedan and another may have different control arm set ups.

as dave said it depends on the front suspension setup and how difficult it is.

i would average $200 per shock on an average sedan.

front brakes 60$
Oil change 60$-80$
shocks usually 100-150.
belts are sometimes 60$ per, sometimes more based on difficulty.
machine rotors, $200 sedan $300 pickup.
plug punctured tire 20$

I paid $840.00 to change four shocks, align and camber a wagon at a popular alignment place in/behind Penal. A few days later, I threw thr car around a corner at about 60 km/h and tires are bawling. I didn't have time to carry it back and my two week warranty ended up expiring. I'll never go back though..a big name means nothing anymore apparently, so I'll keep these prices and your number Ted. Check your PM in a bit.

Note, tires bawling dont always mean alignment is off. I used to work in a alignment shop and people used to say this alot. Its not always this case.

usually its tire pressure, semi worn tires and poor suspension parts (Eg struts)

and yes alignment also but always the case

This is true. Which is why I bought my shocks and told the techs to check the vehicle and see what else is bad so I could buy and change, to which they said only a knuckle joint was bad. I asked the 'experts' for their advice and acted upon their advice.
