Vinyl stick on number plate

hey guys,

I have been researching this for some time ,"Can i use a vinyl sticker number plate" , with no clear distinction of wether it is legal or not.
Even asked a office he wasn't able to give me a definite , can any of you guys answer this question?

I was once ticketed for having the vinyl sticker on my bumper, that was years ago though.

I would still carry plates in the vehicle with some mounting tape just in case you meet up an unfortunate situation.

i got some heat for from a stupid licencing officer already for sticking my mgw info...because in the *book* said it must be painted on.

Thanks Nick ....I just get new plates metal stamped ones ...... it would just look so much better on the car ....

digits must not be too small , slanted\italics or in any fancy font , simple like how AERIAL font looks like in ms word ...

thanks guys ... I guess what i was trying to achieve is not have all the blank empty space as my lic number is a 2 digit , so i didn't like how the existing has all this empty space and no one seem to be able to make them short as every place i went kept saying is standard unless i get the plastic number plate.

So i just got fed up and got the regular metal emboss plate with a bunch on blank space ......
