Most muffler shops perform this work and have a few who have done work for me but Inever chassis work so just want some feedback on ppl who actually did do this kind of work.

You mean cutting off the rotted section and pressing out the sheet metal to shape and welding back up?

Well something so but not everyone uses the correct gauge of steeland does neat welding because they say no one seeing that part of the car. You should be able to jack the car when done.

I'm in for info. I carried my car to change the frame rails and the guy just bought the sheet and welded it over the old one . I think 16 gauge sheet metal is the thickest you can get? I've got this crazy idea to cut it off an Almera or something and just mod it to fit and weld it up myself... When I buy the welder that is.

That method is not right. The best way is to use the square tubing and remove the old one. Of course if it's on a flat surface alone then you can just remove that piece and use the proper gage and weld a patch in place.

You can get square tubing to buy. So I got someone who did this kinda of work on a similar car and came highly recommended so that's where I went. Chassis work of that calibre isn't cheap.
