NISSAN Frontier

Postby july » August 8th, 2014, 12:11 pm

peeps good day, my brother wants to purchase a Frontier diesel but i have hear so much issues with the engine YD15 & ZD30ddt, our problem is that we don't know much about Diesel vehicles, we checked a lot of Frontiers the pass 2 weeks and now boiled down to 2 so far:

1 vehicle TBZ doing 100k which i find strange a YD25 turbo 4x2 hardly smokes the guy changed turbo & clutch plate etc. he did an engine job.
1 TBT doing 239k ZD30ddt what i find strange about this engine that it's turbo charged without an intercooler is that normal? don't they work together but this 1 is 4x4 fully loaded, it smokes when moving off, have 2 oil leaks 1 on top the head and the other at the side of the engine head and he changed the turbo, my question is those 2 leaks are they major, it doesn't leak bad the area is just wet.

any advice will greatly be appreciated.

P.S anyone could point me to a diesel mechanic so we can bring the vehicle to them or they can meet us to check them.

4x4 better dan 4x2... but d 4x2 sounds like a better buy. I own a 4x2, had it since Nov last year and till den I had no problems :D and mines clockin over 200km. I tune up every 5km-7km jus to save d life of d engine! I now changing ball joints and Bushings. At the end of d day, it all boils down to how d owner treats their van. I was blessed wit mines :)

Honestly the rebuild a little sketchy....i had a yd25 before and rebuild on 273000 km, with all original parts....it didnt last to long...about 8months to be exact....changed off parts again...4months after same thing...switched to a qd32 and box and sold the van...bought an original qd32 4x4 .....worst like a beast....best buy ever....

^^ That sounds like the mechanic not the parts.

I have also rebuilt twice but with good reason, first time(Aug 2011) i had to change the block and the second (Aug 2013) was the head. It was rebuilt each time with necessary parts and also the mech stated other parts to change as well (original).

Yes its the most problematic of all frontier engines but maintenance and driving style affects it.

OP,im considering selling, TBS 4x2 YD25, Green, 207xxxkm, 2nd owner have it for over 6 yrs thus far and in great condition, pm if interested.

I have a tbx zd30 4x4 frontier and once service on time as the fellow tuner said 5-7km you won't have a problem and once you have a problem with it don't be afraid to spend your money because when you fix it it would last a very long time ... Also check your pm
