Qr20 questions

Postby infinite_RPM » November 18th, 2015, 11:09 am

After 14 years in service my almera needs a little attention. I find recently my fuel consumption is getting worse.. I used to get 300km on a tank of gas. Now it's like 240km or less..and in addition to that power is at an all time low.. Don't get me wrong the qg16 works but I can tell it's fading..

My plan is to:
Upgrade to 11" brakes front and back
Coilovers
Qr20de conversion (auto)

My questions are:
Has anyone ever done this conversion?
How much did it cost?
Is it safe to run super gas?
Maintenance costs vs a qg16 engine?
Reliability?

The only other engine I'd swap to is a sr20ve and that's high compression and needs premium..I prefer a newer engine to be honest.. Even though it might be more pricey..

I kno some persons who hav d Nissan Prarie use premium. But d Sr20 is more common and also mechs and electricians are familar with it. I wud reccommend d sr. Also some versions (non turbo) of d Sr u cud use super.

Had a p12 primera with a qr20 engine that was in my family for about 9 years. From my experience it is quite reliable and never really had engine problems besides changing the cam and crank sensor. It easily uses super and the only major problem that i had with the engine was overheating and that was because i had a busted radiator for quite a while (which isnt technically a fault of the engine).

My qg was the same thing , I changed to a metal top radiator long before it could go bad tho.. And changed a speed sensor and crank and cam sensors..

I trying to get a newish engine for my car.. The non ve sr20s are oldddd.. If I was on speed I would of put a sr20det long time. Qr supposed to be a good swap in for these cars since the American sentras cane with a qr

Not too worried about mechanics I should be able to do most of the harness work myself. I just don't have equipment for removal of engine etc..

I never had any problems except with the sensors and they were easy to source
