Old school Datsun 180 B pride..(More pics page 2)

Postby FURIOUSBENNY » February 6th, 2008, 4:33 pm

I started this topic in the classified forum but at this stage I decided to continue it here.Actually this was supposec to be a step by step process in restoring my Datsun 180 B but as I got parts the mechanic just jumped right into it.

I will start posting pictures by weekend of the car as is..My process in not to create a modified monster with a SR heart but to return the car to an almost original state.

Things done so far
1. Firstly the old worn manual steering box was replaced with a powered box..

2. The original silver top 1.8 engine and tranny was replaced with a Naps Z(black top) 8 plug engine with overdrive tranny.

3. The old blower system replaced with an original aircon system using all the present lines etc..

Old steering box with adjustment screw fully adjusted..

Fuel Pump in trunk for new engine(I think is off a old model RX)

This is the new Nap Z engine..Carb power..

No man, no bench seat in front. It's a PAE model and came automatic with the floor shifter and two front seats. The bench model was like the Pz and PAA with the finger tip control..

Progress

Postby FURIOUSBENNY » February 11th, 2008, 8:56 am

Please excuse the condition of the car.Everything was gutted to work on car and on top of that the car was parked up for over a year..

I will be starting the small neatning up over this coming weekend(Married man now and have to make time for the wife)..

Things to be done this week..

1. Suspension work including bushings, arms and cross etc.Not going to align until I get body job done.

2. Shifter to be changed together with neutral switch and rod..

The only reason the doors and body got like this is because my brother "loaned" the car to "an old soldier" friend of his.All the soldier used to do is put gas and drive.

He had no garage and the car was exposed to the elements for a while. Water got into the doors as the strips were not there and corroded them from the inside..

When people get thing free they really don't care it..

Imagine this man was driving the car around with no tail lights, one head light which worked only on high beam, no wiper ansd a totally worn steering box with a faulty colums too..

In the mean time I taking it to have to neutral switch, shifter and rod changed on Sunday. After that will be ends, bushing and cross together with other suspension parts.

Also going to change shocks and Rims/tires and lower the car to even the level out..

Yeah man, thanks.those rims changing though.Already have the replacement home but only going on when body work complete. Is a modern style to those rims on now..(Konigs)

The car will take a little more attention than I expected but what do you expect from an almost 30 year old vehicle..

This was purchased new by my father and has real"value"to me..
