With our traffic we spend so much time our cars. I say go with you heart. :) if you are looking at an Evo X a pick up is kinda a big jump away from that so unless you really need a tray I would stay away. (Unless you import the new Holden UTE I've on the road) lovely machine! :D

Anyway I digress, if you are looking at practical I recommend looking at the Forester XT as with the boxer engine it's a lower centre of gravity makes it not a boat to drive. Both the Tiguan and the Q3 are pretty nice vehicles and quite sporty as the 2.0T has a good power to weight ratio for those cars.

If you would like to test the S3, I know SS has one on their rental fleet. Maybe about a year old now.

Yep I know the guy as well. My only complaint with the GTI and S3 sportback is that they're a bit small in size. Test drove the q3 and I agree it drives sporty surprisingly but I don't particularly like those crossover/compact SUV vehicles.
For me it's either you're a hatch or an estate. Or a proper SUV.

what's the big deal about having DRLs locally? I know some like the look of it (personally I think most applications look tacky and busy), but are there any real advantages to having them down here?

They help reduce the chance of an accident.

I agree with the tacky bit. Newer cars' DRLs are way too bright :???: I think that makes them look a lil tacky.

The B8 Audi A4 and even the last gen Santa Fe had acceptable brightness levels.

I think they are a welcomed addition for practical reasons. "It's not designed for you to see but for others to see you"

I've never experienced any instances where I had any near misses and I thought, wow thank goodness those people had DRLs, but that's just me. How about you guys?

^^Maybe you're a careful driver. Not everyone checks twice though. Ever saw fools driving at 5:30am or 6:30pm with not a light on? DRL's are for those basterds too lol

DRLs are supposed to be bright to be visible in daylight. Its the ones that dont put on their headlights at dusk that cause trouble. It dims when headlights come on.

Maybe not you and even for those with them they may not be able to tell you that it directly saved their lives. That's the point. Other drivers see you in the first place and avoid.

I know but some of them like they try to replace the headlights. You ever take a corner and a new Frontier or Cerato at the side of the road with them on? They real bright. A lil too bright imo. But that may be just me...

Most people afraid of the gas consumption but if you accustomed to using premium and like speed it may not be too much of a trade off. I want one.

Nah evo fuel consumption different. Them other 2.0T if you drive conservatively you get nice consumption figures. Evo X conservative fuel is like an A4 2.0t consumption when driven aggressively.

New Vehicle Prices In Trinidad & Tobago 2016

Postby scotty_buttons » February 9th, 2016, 12:52 am

Yep. From those Audi and BMW 2.0 turbo u can get 600-800kms on a tank. Most u can probably get on an evo is 400-450 if driving very conservatively.

In addition one can argue that normal maintenance is probably a bit more expensive for the evo x as well. I could be wrong..

400-450 is near impossible. Evo X is notorious for dumping lots of fuel just look at fuel economy figures and you'll see how bad it is, 17 city/ 23 hway and no one ever hits those figures. Much less hit them consistently for a whole tank. Most modern cars get around 34 hway at least

Same size tank as Jetta: 55 litres. The empty tank light comes on around 45-50 litres.

People complain about having to fill often cuz they get something like 300-350 km per tank. Imagine daily driving this and you work in Port of Spain and get into daily traffic on highway. You probably will get 300 km per tank. Maybe less.

My current car if I get 300km I consider it good. $240 to fill. Takes 40liters. So I'm guessing 45-50liter tank. East/West highway traffic morning and evening.

*sigh

^^You sure about that 45-50 liters ?

It should come on around 45-50 km left of usage from the remaining petrol left in the tank. Well that's how my Audi functions

Nevertheless on a full tank on my 2.0T ( with tune ) with spirited driving most times I can get 400-450km.
