The grand vitara is the bigger van. It has 4wd with selectable low range and rwd configured 2.0/2.4/2.7 engine. Comes in a manual only 1.6l awd 3door variant.

The vitara is the little one. With the fancy headlights. Comes with awd (optional). No range selector and fwd 1.6 configured engine. There is a 1.4 turbo variant which we dont get here.

Yes
The big 1 is the same model thats been around since 2006. The only update was a facelift, rear discs and some interior features.

The small 1 is a "girl car" indeed. It doesnt feel like something a man should drive tbh. Great for GFs and wife tho.
Lol

On VW Facebook page they said that they now offer 5 year warranties on new vehicles.

Can anyone confirm this.

The Suzuki Vitara 1.6 comes from Hungary. It doesn't have the ground clearance or off-road capability as the Grand Vitara. Also, the fully loaded Vitara 1.6 AllGrip which comes with sunroof still doesn't have full leather seats, electronic drivers seat, rear camera or mud guards etc. At $245k I guess it's still satisfactory. The cheaper model is 220k which is mid spec and they don't bring in the base model anymore apparently. If the Vitara had the sound system and rear camera from the Creta or even the Trax in it then it would have been a class winner by a clear margin.

The Tucson turbo awd with 19" rims and sunroof is $310k but sadly it has a 3.5" mono screen type display and the rear view camera is passed through the rear view mirror. But at 310k I suppose a dash kit from Amazon or eBay together with a Pioneer 7" android auto or Apple car play deck paired with a 5 channel amp powering a nice 8 or 10" sub in the trunk might cost you another $10k or so making the new price $320k lol. Some food for thought.

Loll yea my gf got one last year too... God I hate that car... And to think she had to give up a 09 crv for it .

If she could afford to put out some more, the vezel/hrv is alottt nicer and built better.

Vitara suspension and the overall feel of the van is pretty much a wagon to me when i drive it.

Simple the local taxes add up that cost, plus our Gas is cheap.

In the UK cars are cheap but gas is £1.07 a litre which is around $10TT a litre.

Trini Goverment takes the taxes in front rather than push gas prices up.

Just wait for the hybrid. There’s a 1.5t litre hybrid of the XC40 coming soon. Should be exempt from taxes and be much cheaper.

If it’s the 1.5t model they’re selling for 500k, that is rel wickedness.

I don't think you understand what I am saying ...
The Q3 and the XC40 are direct competitors.

A 2.0 liter turbo Q3 and a 2.0 liter turbo XC40 are the same price in the UK (32K GBP)
Both those cars carry the same taxes landed in T&T (due to same pricing and engine size) so they should cost the same here in T&T. Yet the Q3 is 415K and the XC40 is 500K.

Which means in addition to the standard mark up Massy would be making on the XC40 they are making an additional 75K on your head because Trini's still dont know how to use the internet to find out the real cost of things vs the cost the dealer sheits on you.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they start charging you 50c for each plastic bag on the seats and sun visors of a new car.

Maybe it costing Massy more to import the Volvo than SS is with the Audi? Perhaps based on configuration, factory of origin, distributor and logistics? Or Massy is positioning Volvo as a more premium brand in TT than Audi hence the additional markup? You're right though, they both should be priced similar based on the UK prices.

Massy is trying to psuh the position of Volvo. The spec sheets of it isn't that impressive. No stand out features like what the euro version has. So no reason for that high price

Wow....Great stuff there pal, much thanks for posting. Since that Volvo ruled itself out, we are waiting on 5 possible crossover arrivals which may be in time for Christmas 2018 and they are:
2019 RAV4, Eclipse Cross 1.5T, Forester, Santa Fe 2.0T and Equinox 1.5T. The Hyundai, Mitsu and Chevy might offer some surprises for the price making it more desirable than the small entry luxury crossovers like the Q3, X1 and GLA.

The new SANTA FE looks amazing! Hyundai continues to push boundaries.

Seems all the luxury entry vehicles only have a badge to make them stand out now.

What about the new Tiguan, in Asia I see they are coming with a 1.4T which should make it competitively priced locally as it avoids the high tax bands

Thank you greggle, I'm not sure though if BA is still importing the Tiguan so confirmation on this would be appreciated.

Metalgear it's $270k fully loaded with sunroof and 16" rims.

This is the fully electric ioniq. Test drove it. Very impressive I must say. The range is about 200km and has level one and two chargers. Take about 3-5hrs on level two which is 220v rated. This pics show the base model which is going for 240k.
Fully loaded would be 270k which should have features similar to the fully loaded hybrid ioniq. No Android auto or.apple car play however.
Throttle response was innstant and you need to change driving habit to incorporate the regenerative braking on the hand paddles. It take a while but can result in extended range.
The Hyundai Kona is expected by end of year and would be the SUV electric in the range.
Also VW is trying to get the corporate body to release the passat hybrid down here in addition to another VW hybrid to compete in the local market.

200km sounds a bit low, just me but I would prefer always having a hybrid so I would have a petrol back up in any eventuality

No charging station grid just yet so you would have to power up at home and given the regular power ups required relative to the range of the fully electric version what would be the incremental increase of your home electricity bill
