Saw the new Accord came to Thailand has a 1.5 turbo 4 cylinder like the CRV hopefully it makes its way to our shores. Also the new Sonata would have a 1.6 turbo before the year ends hopefully this comes here as well. Would be nice to see this vehicle class become competitive locally again

Thanks for the info and pics there A172. Do I put the prices on pg1 or hold off for now? Is it that this blue unit is a pre-release for now or a test unit?

better to hold off because they are taking orders from sept for the small engine models so official local release would be end of year/early jan 2020

not sure if 2000cc prices would change by then
someone bought the blue car btw

So I went to have a look at the Vitara on Tuesday and the rep told me that they just launched the new model over the past weekend. I thought great show me that one then. The body is almost the same with slightly different rear lights and a redesigned front grill. They are bringing 3 models at the moment, not sure if this will change but, the base is $205k with fabric interior, normal key ignition and traditional radio, the mid-spec has a leather/suede combo, push to start ignition and a touch screen infotainment system for $225k. These 2 come front wheel drive and only the full spec model with sunroof comes with the AllGrip system for $245k. That's unfortunate because I was hoping to get the mid spec with the AllGrip.

The thing that confused me though is that they are still bringing it with the older 1.6 engine whereas in all the other markets that I looked at reviews for they have done away with that engine for the newer 1.0T which is supposed to be more powerful and more efficient. So can anyone tell me why they would do that?

I still think it's one of the most affordable SUV's on the market though.

One reason they may have brought them in with the 1.6 engine is because its tried and true. If that's the case I agree, let other markets be the trial for the turbo mill before we get it. Another reason could be the turbo engine is simply more expensive so the local dealer ordered them with the 1.6 to keep prices competitive. Test drive the 1.6, it's not a beast of an engine but power delivery is not bad and the Vitara is relatively light.

Could also be due to having to stock parts for the new mill.

So I have a question.
For the people that have purchased their vehicle new, how many keep it pass 100000kms?
And for those that kept it that long, what needed to be fixed/replaced besides oil and filters before the 100k kms mark

Only ever had two new vehicles - my current which is 3.6 years old and doing 49,000kms
My last car sold it at 4.5 years doing 56,455kms.

Bought a Navara back in 2010 which I kept for 4yrs. Sold it when it was doing approx. 130k. Other than the usual scheduled maintenance, I only had to change the alternator pulley...

Had a navara which I sold at 140k. Normal maintenance. Changed shocks before I sold it though.
Current Sportage doing 90k. Will take it in to do the 100k service. Normal oil change, brakes and tires so far

1996 Hyundai Accent - Nothing other than scheduled maintenance up to and past 100,000km

1997 Mitsubishi Lancer - Nothing other than scheduled maintenance up to and past 100,000km

2006 Hyundai Coupe - Had to change clutch disc (and pressure plate and release bearing) at around 34,000km. Neal and Massy said that the clutch disc had premature wear due to how I was driving the car. However, I drove the Accent over 100,000km and didn't need to change the clutch disc until well after 100,000km. Research found that other Coupe/Tiburon owners had this same problem that was traced back to an issue with the clutch slave cylinder that Hyundai never acknowledged as a design fault. So owners had to foot the clutch replacement bill. Other than this issue with the clutch disc, I never had any issues with the car up to 100,000km. Past 100,000km, I have had a couple issues with ABS sensors failing, but nothing major.

Nissan y11 had it for 10 years, sold it at 250k kms
Currently have a navara doing same mileage and both vehicles, no set of dramas or engine parts.

Mom has her rd4 crv 130k kms and the biggest issue was a power steering rack and a transmission sensor.

Thanks for the responses.
I was wondering about total cost of ownership of some vehicles as some might think that are saving by purchasing a relatively cheaper vehicle up front, but when parts need replacing (out of warranty) you can end up with very similar costs overall.

Colleague had a Hyundai that required a harmonic damper (crank pulley), wheel hub assembly (abs speed sensor) and other miscellaneous parts which are pretty pricey and not something I think requires changing often but... It needed changing.

My Civic (ek) was purchased at 169000kms and required a whole array of parts... But most were service items.
(Non service items were; idle air control valve, door lock actuator)

Hilux from New and now at 89000kms, only normal service (oil and filters).

Again think you for your responses

For a Hilux regular service every 10,000 km (synthetic oil and Original filters)
every 30,000 km change all other fluid - transmission, diff-oil

150,000km :
Original Toyota parts
Front disc brake
Ideler
Tensioner
Timing belt
Drive Belt
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Oil Filter
Brake Shoes
thermostat
coolant
water pump

This could be a real issue people don't think about.
My current vehicle is a Hyundai Tucson and in 3.6 years I have had to -
1. Repair Thermostop for A/C - warranty
2. Change door actuator - warranty
3. Change A/C Evaporator - not warranty
4. There is a lingering issue with the steering that Massy can't seem to diagnose and I assume I will have to pay to get it checked on the outside
5. Changed battery twice - once on warranty and once after it ended

For a vehicle under 50k Kms and less than 4 years old I shudder to think what happens in a few more years. My brother bought a Qashqai same time I bought my Tucson and he had to change nothing or repair anything other than routine maintenance. Despite having a 2.0l engine as well the Qashqai servicing in Massy was a few hundred less than the Tucson right next door.

But my owners manual says 80,000kms for transmission oil.
