mtec wrote:More and more I find the Ionic looks more compelling as a total package. Rep said the warranty is 10 years on the battery pack which is total BS as it has a lifetime warranty in north america. Why is it we allow these dealers here to fool us with all these sheit stories and policies? Anyway, one can probably consider it as spending $1500 a month for ten years for the base model, after that you're pretty much screwed.

Lifetime warranty does not mean for a human lifetime for example or what you deem as a lifetime. You need to find out what the manufacturer thinks is lifetime. The manufacturer may think the lifetime of the battery is 10 years so they say lifetime warranty. Things along that nature. You really can't be looking at North America terms and get upset when the terms are different in other regions.

Yup .... If a battery pack is only holding 10% of its original capacity after 5 years that is not a problem warranty will cover. Car should still work fine tho as your gas engine would just be on all the time.

Would also be surprised if you can get a trini dealer to fix/replace a battery failure 9 years into ownership.

Cause I don't need a loan?

Update on the Civic
Noises I have been hearing and ANSA could not diagnose are still there but happening less. MPG is getting better as car ages got 5.3L/100KM yesterday from Chag to Couva ( 44 US MPG or 53 UK MPG). Leather on the driver side continues to age faster than I like and the lever to raise and drop the seats has stopped working once you are sitting in the seat, will get them to fix that at next service. Otherwise Infotainment system works great, Drive train is still pleasant to drive. Still amazed at how comfortable and spacious car is, this is not a small sedan.

New Civic looks like an old Accord on the road size wise the styling is growing on me but the price jeez way way too much for what you get especially when you compare it in other markets to the competition price wise.

Ionic I see alot of these on the road they look very good compared to the Prius and Prius C/Aqua. Going Hybrid seems to be the way forward but Ionic is a 1st gen product Toyota has been building hybrids for 20yrs no doubt Prius is built like a tank. It will be very interesting to see how the Ionic holds up.

Yeah but that prius is ugly and not attractively priced at all ... Last quote I heard was 260K. Ioniq is the only hybrid that priced well and Massy knows it hence they sending the prices up.

New CRV expected at the end of the October with a starting price around 345K. This has the 1.5 Turbo engines from the Civic doing 190 HP.

RedVEVO, why do you say that in reference to hybrid vehicles? I saw it's not the first time you related hybrid to disposable. Any reason or info you wish to share with me?

Drchaos, if that $345k price is true for the all new 2017 CRV turbo AWD then I think we have a class winner here!

Honestly I am not sure about that hybrids get less wear and tear on their batteries, engines and brakes using the Ionic's obvious competitor/Prius as an example this car should last quite a while. Depreciation on a new hybrid car might be the killer.

Prius is not built like a tank .

But unlike Ionic it is on it's 3rd Generation ( maybe 4th as of 2018 )

The depreciation is like throwing a pebble off a cliff .

" .. The redesigned CR-V gains features, space, and optional turbo power. While the base LX trim is fitted with a carryover 184-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, EX and above trims sport a 190-hp, 1.5-liter turbo. A continuously variable transmission is standard and works well with either engine. Fuel economy is impressive at 28 mpg overall for the EX. Handling is nimble and sure-footed, and the firm ride is steady. Road noise has been suppressed, resulting is a quieter cabin. The interior is very comfortable and roomy, particularly the rear seat, although the base LX's seat is less supportive. EX and above versions come with a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system that offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and Garmin navigation. They also have standard automatic emergency braking and blind-spot warning .. "

New Vehicle Prices In Trinidad & Tobago

Postby agent007 » September 23rd, 2017, 7:59 pm

I saw tonight that SS cleared a shipment of several types of Kia vehicles including the all-new 2018 Niro. Looks like SS has joined the hybrid party despite being 7 months late vs Massy with the Ioniq.

I'm trying to compile a list of brand new hybrid vehicles one can buy from the franchise dealers and alternative dealers. So here is what I got so far:

Toyota
Axio, Fielder, Camry, Prius, Aqua, CHR, Harrier, Voxy

Honda
Fit, Accord, Vezel, Odyssey

Nissan
X-trail, Serena

Mitsubishi
Outlander

Mazda
Axela

Subaru
XV

Hyundai
Ioniq

Kia
Niro

Porsche
Cayenne

Mercedes Benz
C-Class
E-Class

BMW
X5
3-series
5-series

Day by day, I'm simply seeing more and more newly registered hybrids on our roads. It would be stupid of me to say that hundreds if not thousands of people are making a mistake? The popular ones seem to be the Ioniq, Xtrail, Vezel, Aqua and the CHR which seems to be getting a lot of interest. On the premium side of things, I'm seeing a lot of Hybrid X5's, C350e's and 330e's.
