Good day guys! i'm currently in the process of doin a vr4 conversion to my 8th gen galant... since i expect to daily it a bit and just have it up and running, after being parked up for so long...

anyways to the point, it a w5a51 3e6b tiptronic and i was wondering what was the best ATF to use in the box, i know mitsu recommends sp111, but some guys locally are using ATF4 with good results, my main concern is that i don't wanna use any oil that'll harm the internals and if any of you have had experience with using different ATF's in mitsubishi's. If sp111 is the only way to go, well then by all means i'll get it, a bit pricey i've heard at almost $500 a gal!

Please any local/foreign knowledge will be very helpful and greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

using cheapest oil found in chinee grocery $19 a qt.....i put it in to flush out the tranny but that was about 10,000 KM ago.....no problems so far.

But dont go trying it without a huge oil cooler......mine is bigger than a Civic radiator

Seems like mitsu-oil has higher operating temp tolerance to resist break down

nice, maybe i'll buy a couple quarts of cheap atf and flush it and use sp111, a tuner quoted it at abt $70tt a quart which is by all means a no brainer once i secure it at that price! thanks!

I called Diamond Motors and inquired about the spIII . guy who answered told me 35 a quart ..."35!?!?" i repeated incredulously and he said yes . called back later in the day asked another person who answered the same question and got the same response . eventually made my way down there to be told its "70-something" (reps exact words) a quart

use sp111 oil all d way ,castrol ATF 4 dont work good wit these transmission
it will over heat and burn d cluthes
but castrol has a +3,4 oil that is recommended for these transmission i think its like 65 for the qt.
mitsu. sp111 is $350 for 5qt. bottle

Things really stinks in here..........thread dead dead dead

Mines VR4 V6TT ECU programming;

* Speed limiter is raised (or rather its set to 510 KPH, I'd be terrified if the car went that fast, haha!)
* Runs slightly leaner above load 140 and engine speed above 5000 RPM
* Generally runs more timing across the board for better economy, also in torque areas, around in the power areas
* Stock Rev limiter raised an extra 350 RPM
* Boost (fuel) cut load limiter raised (so it's upped from roughly the 13-14psi region to roughly 18-19psi region)
* Target engine load increased across the board vs the stock sliding 89%-110%-80% default scale
* Target wastegate duty cycle increased across the board vs the stock 49%-34%-67%-30% scale
* Slightly more tolerant of knocking

So it'll be slightly better on economy for cruising, boost raised to around the 15-16psi region with a fair bit more lower down torque and a reasonable power increase probably in the region of about 310 HP. It's definitely mapped for higher octane fuel, that's for sure and will knock like a beyotch on our super, premium is an absolute minimum.

If anybody interested in trying this out give me a holla

1) who brings in the AWD sub-frame? where will i get one? and at what price average?

2) And also, when doing the awd conversion, will the front sub-frame have to change or modify for the transfer case and drive shaft hook up?

3) And also is the VR4 rear sub-frame different from a VR-G rear sub-frame?

oh oh, like I caught someone during their "P",......xtech? Please sir, forgive my ignorance for clearly bypassing the wealth of knowledge to be found in chapter 1 of this thread, again a thousand pardon. Hoping my ignorance is forgiven, could someone versed in the procurement of used vr4 parts point me to somewhere other than the bamboo where the suspension is sold? And how about a price average so, seeing that some of us here have successfully performed this conversion.

I dont understand why someone looking for knowledge/ help could come onto an informative post as such and just step on ppls toes, if you are not adding anything positive, pass through and leave, other than that, keep your backside quiet!

No, i dont think so... I just fixed the problem! After removing the gear lever cover, it was clear to see that the hold down pin for the driver's side rod linkage came off! (now remember seeing my son playing with the gear shifter). So, off came the driver's side finisher and i replaced the simple 2 prong locking pin... All 5 gears smooth and reverse pulling harder than ever! Just in case you fellow manual tuners ever experience this, dont hold your head like me, just scrap and investigate first!

Ras d response on this is amazing ..... tort in would of been laggy but no ...... full boost 4300 rpm, pulls hard straight to the red line ..... did I great job matching the backend of the turbo with the long runner manifold.....

Have some ID 750cc injectors to install .....
