Well I just started painting my bonnet and trunk lid. It's looking plenty better than before. The paint was ridiculous cracking and flaking out.

I sand it down and filtered it back up. Shoot some primer from a tin on it then gravitex it.

I have the Nickle to install around the windshield still.

car almost finish body wise. one side already in primer, the next side just have the front door to finish.

My engine however took a shat on me, the front gear that turns the oil pump and the distributor drive gear has a bend i believe. Along with this the engine burns a bit of oil as well as the valve seals. ill rebuild this.

My replacement however is a L24 straight from a 240zx complete with a 4 speed (currently its a l28 3 speed)

the engine comes with electronic ign vs my points setup.
it has a webber 32/36.
all hoses on the engine are there, plenty of my lines are condemn.
it has a rwd sr20 alt with a rb starter.

overall im getting a full upgrade right around.

stock carb.

i already swapped in the motor, wired up a few add ons. l24 is a totally different engine
much easier to build Rpm and speed.

my previous l28 had more tq.

i used back my old 3 speed trans and it shat itself this morning, did 170 around a corner and that was it. it neutralize and that was it.

wrecker.

im buying a big 3 ton shop jack to complete that job, i managed to get by with a small 200$ jack before, now i need one lol.
cant get that trans out easy. after christmas for that.

weber also needs a rebuild, the diaphragm burst on the side. it had gas in the bowl while it was out of the previous car.

sheriff told me $295 for the rebuild kit. $175 for the power valve.
i also need a smaller primary jet

What happened to the original L24 from the car?

Also is the L28 for sale? Know someone looking for the L24 but i guess this set up can work.

just took a peep into the carb saw 175 jets. the other didnt have a number idk looked about the same size. ill have a rebuild tutorial for the carb they have which one is primary and the secondary.

going to get the kit next week.

on the old l28, the gear that turns the oil pump and the dizzy shaft has a slight bend and moves a bit, throws off timing and the oil pump slowly doesnt build oil pressure.

i have brand new datsun rebuild kit for it.
new valves, new valve seals, rings.
would rebuild when the time is right, my car neeeds attention elseware

the original l24 from the car overheated and blown a headgasket while the previous owner had it. changed engine and trans, since the reverse gear in the trans wasnt working all the time.

At least on primary for good mileage u should use 125. Idle should be 50-65 with ac. The 200 for secondary can work there for top end

Put the L24 head on the 28. Higher compression. Those L24 heads are getting hard to get.

totally forgot.
i bought a MSD blaster coil 2 for the car, reworked the electronic ignition, did over some grounds and took off my resistor.

Totally different car , i was shocked when i finished. never expected such a difference.

Make sure if the normal blaster 2 that it is mounted upright otherwise it may leak. Only the black blaster high vibration can be mounted aide ways

Basically what Dave said.

I just turned the bracket.
I used one stock hole and found another hole close by so I got thru with it.

I removed the resistor since I went from points and condenser to electronic.
