Really interesting, wonder how it would have performed with better coilovers like tein or cusco

no real maths there......the biggest single upgrade you can do to handling is better tyres....everything else just builds on that...

What they should have done tho is do a baseline run on the factory tires and set the bench mark time.
Then do a run with the factory tires and the coilovers, then the coilovers and the cheap tires.

yeah I thought the same thing...but no mater what you do to the suspension, youare still limited by the coefficient of friction of the tyres you use...I'd expect baseline to be slowest, followed y fancy springs, and rubber on stock springs fastest...rubber on fancy springs would probably be the fastest, keeping in mind the real benefit of (proper) coil overs is the ability to balance corner weights...if you are using them just to lower CoG, you doing it wrong :p
Not 100% sure I'd take advice from these guys

yup. corner balancing is the only way to get the full benefits of coilovers.

it just proves no matter what suspension you have
shitt tyres will fail you.
hence all the "highpowered" local cars running sailuns on their fully built suspension just wasting time unless they want to drift

btw stock tyres on the ft86 is the same tyre on the prius

^the worst that could happen is that your skills as a driver improves in response to driving on a perceived inferior tyre.
i've run autocross on mismatched, foreign used tyres for more than 5 years and i think i can definitely get the most lateral grip out of the new Falkens (fk452) i have on currently. i'm much more disciplined on throttle now that i've had experience with truly shitty grip

Tyres are the only part of the car that touches the road. If what makes contact with the road is poor and you want superior performance, you asking for trouble.

I agree but however a good driver can compensate for poor tyres on their vehicles. but good tyres do really give you a edge vs crappy tires
