Hey Tuners. Just want to let you all know about a project I'm involved with. (Not sure is Car Park is really the right place for it.) I work with Art of Speed Racing, and we've been developing this car for our spec series starting this year. ASR Cup PRo. http://www.asrcuppro.com
Some background, We already have our own competition here in China called ASR Cup where we run 1.5l current gen Honda Fits, complete with our own wide body kits and suspension components that we developed ourselves for our cars. (Engine and gearbox are standard on those). You can go to http://www.asrcup.com to find out more about that.
We have been successful with our ASR Cup for nearly 10 years now but we wanted to set our sights on something different. Our goal was to design and build from the ground up a single seater Le Mans style race car, that would be reliable and affordable for pretty much anyone. Plus still being able to offer options for people who have different needs. The cars we run in our series will all be to the same spec, but anyone wanting take it to other races will be able to have all the equipment they need for that.
The engine is a 3.0l Audi V6 that we tune and control using MoTeC ecus. It puts out about 250bhp, but the car weighs shy of 700kg. So it's definitely not slow in standard trim. Plus we completely balance and blueprint the engine. No corners are cut with this car, and we provide full support for spares for our car. Every part for this car we have in supply.
We've been testing our main prototype car all year and run it in a few endurance races here in Shanghai. We have also taken the car to Shanghai F1 and Beijing GoldentPort to test. This year in 2017 we will be fielding 15 cars in our PRo series and in endurance races throughout our local racing calendar. We were faster than a whole lot of supercars while we were over in Beijing testing. We've thrown everything we possibly could at this car whether we wanted to or not, and it's been rock solid the entire time, it hasn't skipped a beat.
This car meets every FIA specification for design and safety features. We don't leave anything out for standard features, massive Wilwood brakes, MoTeC ecu, our own HSD suspension kit, the works. The entirety of the chassis, bodywork and suspension is designed built and tested solely by us at ASR. Right now we are preparing for the racing season and completing the ordered cars.
I know there are a a few guys with Radical SR4s in the region, and honestly, our car is just plain faster. And alot more affordable than those. I think the closest is the Elan and that's way way above what the TC-01 costs. While it looks like it may be a real handful, it's actually a pretty easy car to drive. I really feel that anyone can get in and get accustomed to it fairly quickly.
There are three teams right now and a number of individual racers coming up in the series. I'd really like it if Tuners could follow when the PRo season starts in May of this year, we are going to provide lots of coverage. If you guys want to find our more about what we do here, just go to http://www.asrcuppro.com and i'll probably posts some updates on the forum if you like.
