WTK: Helmets required for competition

Postby dredman1 » April 16th, 2011, 12:42 am

Can someone from CARS clarify if there are any special requirements for the helmets needed for competition?
Or can I buy any SNELL or DOT approved helmet and be allowed to compete? Does it have to be closed face, or can it be open face as well (once it's approved as above)? Also, any prohibited colours, etc?

Thanks!

Helmets can be colour customised anyway you want. It can also be open or closed faced, although the open face is a lot more comfortable IMO, closed face tend to get very hot when you're not moving.
Currently, both SNELL or DOT approved helmets are allowed.

^^^ Thanks for clarifying.

So basically I can come with a motorcycle helmet, even a dirt bike/motorcross helmet (once it DOT or SNELL approved) and be allowed to run, with the only downside being that I may look foolish and be laughed at by all and sundry???
(serious question eh)

Wow...$1300... and that's for a dirt one... imagine how much it would cost if it were made from plastic and that other stuff my helmet is made from...

...I kinda thought if it were a dirt helmet, it would be dirt cheap...
