are they the 8M400 or 8MB400?

Boy, I had 4 of the 8mb400 on the opti 500x2 in stereo and boy they did playing... I couldnt complain, the midbass was setting off car alarms parked next to me.... It has the opti 700x2 which i think would play them really really nice....

Personally id go for the 4ch for ease of install (and if is 4 of the same drivers) as I have a small car but if you have the space, why not a pair of 2 channels?
They will dissipate heat better.

If its a pair of different drivers, then the pair for amps so I can tweak on board xovers to get a suitable hpf for each pair.

Efficiency over quantity-

One amplifier = less overall current draw, less wiring , much more simple overall

The only thing I would do would be to stick to an amplifer with a good track record, such as the usamps usa1500, contact rovin

It's rated at 1500wrms @ 2ohm bridged @ 12v / full bandwidth

the opti drive amp u want does not exist
http://www.lanzar.com/productseries/OptiDrive
see for yourself
you could get 100x4 250x2 500x2 700x2 200x4 250x4 but no 500x4 the rest is d class
the 250x4 wil give you a 1000x2 @4ohms bridged but that wil be too punishing for the 8"
you could look at american bass and precision power before u decide they both have a neat line of amplifiers

1 lanza opti 2000.4 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_187 ... 00.2x.html

which model lanzar opti are u looking at? is it the 250.4 opti or the 200.4 opti?

if so these amps are beasts and will easily handle 4 8" and max them out. i know someone running 4 10" rcf of the 250.4 and it is loud.

wow! that is quite a bit of power for jus 4 8". but i guess once tuned well and gains properly set it will work jus fine.

i will pick this over the 2 powerbass 800.2. the only downside of the lanzar optidrive is that they tend to get hot pretty fast.

Just a note, but there is a point of diminishing returns wrt amplifier power.

Doubling the power nets only 3dB of additional output. And that's assuming that the speakers in question respond lineally at higher power levels. Most do not. The coils heat up, resistance increases, and output drops, and all you're during with the more powerful amplifier is generating more heat.
