NVX Amplifiers (MVPA4 Review)

Postby Wolfstein » February 21st, 2015, 12:11 pm

OK guys so I have had the pleasure of working with products form the Offshore Marketing Team, and I must say all of there products have really stood the test of time. This review is based on there new line of products from NVX. Thus far I have only worked with the NVX MVPA4 ultra small footprint amp rated at 400rms×4. This amp is one of those that you look at think twice about its performance being a mere 5.45"×4"×1.5" it really has and delivers the power it says. Also the hpf filter on the amp actually works with the frequency pot unlike other amps that have a standard crossover frequency built-in when hpf filter is used. So a crossover is not need for this amp although I have it in full pass cause I have a crossover in my system. Just have a look at these dyno results at 4 ohms with gains set to -5dbs. The only problem i see with this amp is the amount of heat it generated after 30mins of playing it wasn't as if you couldn't touch it but it was something i took into concern, being that the mono was alot cooler "Sonido Mask 1500.1" So simply put a fan on the unit and problem solved. Had it running for an hour and no problems. Will report on durability of this model at a later date. Another great product from Offshore Marketing.

I read good reviews on these. Not surprised to see another good review here.

They are around the same size as the Memphis amps and they are about the size of my wallet. Serious talk, the pic of them online is next to an iphone as a size reference.

Is that small amp really capable of delivering 400Wrms x 4, all channels driven?

That's 1.6kW total. If we assume 90% efficiency, it's going to be pulling about 1.8kW from the car's DC supply. If we assume best-case condition of 14.4V, that means that it's going to be pulling around 124A. What size fuses does it have?

Ok, from this link it appears to be 400WRMS TOTAL, not 400Wrms x 4 - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_717 ... MVPA4.html.

And that's at 2 ohms per channel and 14.4V DC supply, i.e. best-case conditions.

Still, looks like a good deal.

Yes my bad it is 100*4. So up to date amp still performs like the first day. No problems what so ever. I have also made adjustments to -10dbs. Didn't even bother to dyno reason being I just want to see the actual capabilities of this amp. But I'm very happy with the performance of the little amp. My vxi component are also happy. VERY HAPPY:razz:
