need amp help 4 channel

Postby nismo1325 » February 22nd, 2016, 4:07 pm

i know very little on music and i need some help as to which is the best as which amp will push good power just to power 4 6 in my doors and one 8 inch rockford sub

my budget is 1200-1400 and so far what i see is

rockford prime 300.4
sound digital 400.4
taramp ts400.4

i have heard that soundstream lil wonder is the best to go with but i have no idea at this moment

i am just looking to keep it as a one amp system and small so i can keep the amp under my seat and be comfortable

any help will be appreciated

was going with the sound digital but i just need to know more about it...just keep getting the feeling that because of the size it wont last to long

Do you know the ohm and power (watts) rating on the door speakers (assuming they're all the same) as well as the sub?

If you don't have this info, at least provide brand/part numbers etc.

Let me rephrase. We (I) need to know what impedance load you're looking to put on the amp, for instance, a lot of multi channel amps are NOT stable under 4ohms, bridged. So, are your 6-inchers 4 or 8 ohm (each)? Trying to help you understand what you're looking for instead of just talking out my rear-end.

I'm sorry but that's the area where I need help...I don't know much about music at all and neither installation so that's why I am asking for the advice and also a place that does good installation.... So far I called baseline audio and they recommended me to go with the sound digital as it is small and powerful and will be capable of pushing the system comfortably they recommended the 400.4 sound digital and some good coaxial speakers will be good

Wait, so they suggested an amp without knowing the specs of your speakers? *Red flag*
My humble opinion- with the lack of info, I'd say look for a 5 or 6 channel. PPI has a few options that classify as nano.

They recommended the 4 channel for everything so I was going with there decision.... That's why I'm asking...if specs is the problem I will be running 4 6 inch faital pro which is 8 ohms and the sub which is 4 ohms..

In that case, you should be fine with a 4 channel 2 pairs wired parallel to the left and 2 on the right. amp will see a 4ohm and you'll retain the stereo integrity, sub wired bridged across the two rear channels.

However! two things;
1. Those Brazilian amps are ultra sensitive and clip easily.
2. 400watts is alot of work for 4 6s and a sub.

I don't know if these are on anyone's radar but from PERSONAL experience, I can point you to this.

CHEAP, makes rated power, plays clean. You're welcome. :drinking:

i was thinking of going with the 5 channel but most 5 channel amps out there that i see cant fit under the front seat and they are big....i was now checking the shallow mounted pioneer 10's and i really like how they play and it doesnt take up much space.

i got some family coming to trini in july so i think id just have them buy one and have them bring it for me but now whats a good amp to buy for 250us max to power everything comfortably...rockville looks good tho but is it reliable?

Mine was short-lived through no fault of the manufacturer. The guts were impressive to say the least.
I've also used the newer PPI/Soundstream stuff. They do close to rated and I ran them hard without issue. Very good amps if space is a concern.

The powerbass 400.4 is a small amp and can give you a solid 400 rms.

also, 200 watts on two pairs of high sensitivity pro audio speakers wont give you good sound if you have 200 watts on a sub. Best idea might be to invest in some decent speakers, power them off the deck using onboard processing to high pass them and use a dedicated amp for a sub until such time when you can invest in some more power.
My alpine will fit under most seats but its not within your budget. x-factor on the forum has some rf mi amps for sale that are just about new. Something you can aim for.

if you buying in the USA, this is a nice option.

http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Kac-8405- ... +5+channel

The alpine mrx amps a bit out of your budget.

the alpine is really out of my budget....i was checking the new stealth series from soundstream...the st1000.4 and the st1.700 for the price i was thing to put a small mono for bass and a separate mids amp which will be better but the reviews where horrible on them

the soundstream stealth st1000.4

I'm 50:50 on the sound stream.
Good thing don't come cheap. That's why I said you can look into the powerbass and save for an upgrade.
I have been using my pb years now. No complaints and I saved on power cable too. It uses 8 awg. 8awg ofc is $30.00 a yard, 4awg is maybe $30.00 a foot if so cheap. Most other amps use 4awg.

The alpine pdx in my next ride is very nice. Got it at a very good price and bought it used because I know who I buying from.

Not to mention, for the msrp, they sound like tootoo. The sub amps sound fine but their 4 channels sound like auto-tune.

space is one of my main issues because i want the amp under the front seat so it would be out of sight...i think weekend id go around and check a few places....5 channel amps are usually big to my knowledge and i think that skar would be kinda on the big side

Check rave audio for pb amps if interested. They have other amps they can recommend based on ur needs at great prices. DD distributor, triple r for the sub. Guaranteed better prices than where u checked.

If its the same small business I knw, I must agree. The customer service ain't all that either. At the end of the day it's all abt a sale at the business.

One of these places you mention here have had the highest failure rate of merchandise retailed.
Can't say which one, all I will say is one of them. Everyone I know that buy from them have had a product stop working.

FYI... Depending on the power demands, micro amps may not be up to the task, i.e. Driving speakers AND a sub. They make the power, yes but the small chassis/ heatsinks are sometimes the weak point.

thats why im planning on get a small amp for the mids and a smallmono for the bass.....ithink running everything through one amp will not be good at all.....4 6inch at 100rms @ 4ohms and a dd's 600 series 8 inch dual 2 and dual 4 ohms @ 600rms or the le series dd's sub which is about 300rms at 4ohms

oh that was u OP , if u had told me i wud have explained stuff in more detail & even given u demos

big difference there

imho i wouldnt use faitals or any loud mids with a LE , thats a bit of over kill , will advise coaxials instead or even components

but if ur going 600 series then u can use loud mids

if u want to keep it very simple then 1 amp system , however if u accustomed to\want a certain level of loudness then go with 2 separate amps ...... :|

might end up going with some nice coaxials if i get them.....now passed at a music store and saw the soundstream reference nano amps its blue with a gold thing on top...the size is perfect for under the seat and the 600.4 is the power that will be good too...if that 4 channel could work with the le series dd and the coaxials i will just go with that one amp and done the whole thing
