Alpine H701

Postby chosen1 » June 5th, 2016, 7:25 pm

Hey guys/gals

anyone on tuner still uses this processor box? in the us atm and getting one for real cheap with the power connection only.

i know they were popular a decade or so ago. is it still worth the hassle with all of the processing that is coming on single din units?

anyone can chime in with a review?

Unless you have one of the older head units with Ai net, or a rux controller, leave it right there.

^^^agreed. add to the list the fiber optic connection/s.

If however you do have the other pieces I'd say get it.

Its a great bang for the buck unit. I actually have one in my car using at the moment and have no issues with it.

4way active and sub capable. up to 30db/octave crossovers. TA, individual phase control, decent graphic and para eq....etc. and you don't need to always have a laptop to get into it. no Bluetooth connectivity though...after all its over 10years old

^^what they said. a good deck can do more than that processor. (except the 30db/oct xover) eg - pioneer 80prs or old school alpine cda 9887

Tariq, I think you're mixing up the 701. Neither the 80prs nor the 9887 had independent equalisers for front rear and sub, with the ability to do separate L+R. For sure they don't have 30 bands of anything. with the exception of Front2 and sub, you had 2 pairs of bandpassable channels.

It may be a 10yr old piece. Old, but not obsolete.

Its only downfall was lack of channel re-assignability, lacking powersupply and d/a convetrers (which a lot of people have been able to upgrade at home), and no laptop support. You can get by just fine with a RUX.
