IB Build--Thoughts?

Postby X_Factor » April 11th, 2018, 9:56 am

So, kinda bored and looking for a small project to do and considering doing an IB build
Since my father passed away last december, his car Nissan B14 is there doing nothing
I have my home theater sub sitting there doing nothing as well

https://www.data-bass.com/data?page=driver&id=46
thats the sub

also have rockford800.4 and alpine 500rms @2 ohm which is enough power for the build
Mids--dls ultimate components, and 2 pairs of 6.5 coax
purchases may only be the 3/4 inch mdf, some foam spray, couple yrds 4g wire, couple sheets sound dampening

questions,
What are the advantages of IB installs?

What sort of processing would i need for this to shine?

Would any sort of structural work be needed in the trunk area?

My condolences man

But personally I wouldn't consider an 18" in a 15cuft box (thats the size of the trunk) an infinite baffle.

You'll need to seal up that trunk REAL good. Then brace the hell out if it. Or make the box into the trunk itself.

its not gonna be a box just remove back seat
mount a baffle....seal it up properly and mount the sub on it...it vents into the trunk
google ib car installs to see pics

You wont believe I was considering this as weight is an issue. Remove sub for track use and put it back in after.
Seems popular in the usa, I think silent riot and someone else tried it here.

Small power, cone area, simple install, digs deep.

Condolences btw

The audiopipe or pyle seem to be popular choices.

Others are idmax and one that fi audio offers.

maybe just the 80prs, the rest of equipment is fine.

WRT to the IB, just cut a baffle to the shape of behind the rear seat and mount the sub firing into the cab. Ensure you seal all openings that can pass air from the trunk to the cab ( any sounding damping material and maybe a single can of expandable foam). The 18" should give way more than needed output like this with the amount of power you got.

South haven is usually accommodating, its free and once no hooligan behavior, no headache.
Had a few practice photoshoots done there and no fuss from anyone.

Hopefully the guy with the audiofrog stickers on his vehicle shows.
