passive crossover question.

Postby anythingforreal » February 15th, 2019, 2:20 pm

Currently have a pair of alpine spr 17s type r 6.5inch comps.
Original tweeters were damaged so i upgraded to alpines spr 10tw tweeters
now it seems that one of the passives that came with comps isnt working but i have a pair of alpine type x passives just laying around.
WOuld it be recommeded to use the type x passive crossovers or should i look to get back the original passives ?

Car audio passive x-overs tend to be fairly generic. Check to see if the values of the components in type X passive x-over are the same in the one that you want to replace. If they're the same, then there shouldn't be a problem swapping them.

I would try to repair the passives

it's just common electronics part. You should be able to get the capacitors back , the inductors might be tricky though

But to answer your question, yeah it would work. Unless the cross over point is WAY off then you might damage the tweets, post pics of the insides of the crossovers pls
