New sq build...info /advice needed

Postby Jerry84 » April 28th, 2019, 9:09 pm

So I was into the loud music in your car kinda thing but after hearing a relative's vehicle in Miami I was blown away by the levels being achieved in this area. Crisp clean notes, makes one appreciate the music a lot more. I've decided to somewhat do my system this way. My relative gave me two pairs of components (morel is the brand I think). I have two amps (US Amps- Merlin md23 two channel) pack down as well as a JL Audio W6 in factory sealed box. Plan on bridging one amp for the sub and the next for one pair of components...need advice on head unit....any suggestion welcomed.
Thank you

Sundown Audio SAE-100.4

i should of bought one long time ago, its huge but well worth it. properly well built, gobs of power.

for a single amp system this works, a nice 5 channel like the pdx rell decent too. could run active. mids tweets and sub. pair that with a 80prs and u gt

My intention is to use what I already have, a two amp system...thinking I just need the correct processing...and a proper head unit

So you are doing one pair of comps passively crossed upfront with a single sub?
90% of the 2019 pioneer radios can process this well.

i have one of these i bought from fuzz, was like 1200 or so.
could work in network mode, pioneer app for tuning and seting up Time alignment ect, rell decent. cant work with any of my android devices but works on my friend s8. so i guess higher end android phones.

Have no idea what "one pair of comps passively crossed upfront with a single sub" means..can you explain??
But I intend to use one pair of comps and the sub together with the two amps

I see that you have two 2 channel amplifiers for the entire system, so I take it you are using the passive crossovers included with the component set. This configuration is fine but will surely under-utilize the 80prs capability.

My advice here would be to use a single 5 channel amp and go fully active.

Which line/model morel comps you have by the way?

Actually it is not complicated as you think. It is very straight forward when you get into the Audio menu.

Is this a DIY install or looking at an install shop?

While I agree the prs is awesome... I don't think it's necessary for this build.
Honestly any regular pioneer headunit will work... UNLESS you're looking into time alignment.
And even there, with the newer pioneer decks that work with their app, the most basic single DIN decks are very, very capable.

With that equipment, as you're now getting into appreciating sound, I'd grab any regular 13 band eq pioneer deck, apply relevant HPF, and start there.

I received the best advice possible from TheWiseOne when he suggested to start and upgrade so you can appreciate the differences in sound. And starting with Morel Tempo is a lot better than my pioneer 6x9s lol.

Just my opinion.
