Crossover point and slopes

Postby Rage Warrior » July 10th, 2019, 7:41 pm

Where do you set your crossover points in relation to a speakers free air resonance? Let's say a midrange with a fs of 85hz and frequency range of 85-5000 but goes off axis at about 3.5khz.

It depends, for a starter

12db I go 2.5x

24 dB I go with 1.5x

Then I fine tune after.

This is for speakers without any response graphs to use. Otherwise use your graphs. And do a little reading on crossover slopes

This is just what I start with, and I get through to MY liking.

I'm considering a dsp in the future and rta mic to play around with

Thanks just wanted to confirm I was on the right track. I'll hold out on the dsp and RTA mic till I'm starting an sq project.
