WTK: Good auto electrician/ ac repair -- ac fixed!!

Postby linker » February 16th, 2008, 3:29 pm

Guys,
The A/C on my 2002 RORO corolla stopped working. I had the pressure checked and all is well. When they fiddle with the pressure switch, the fan comes on but only for a while. also, the compressor comes on when it is given current.

I need to know someone who can check this out for me, and auto a/c specialist or an auto electrician since the it triggering up to the pressure swiitch. It just does not seem to be triggering the compressor to come on. but as is say, the compressor "clicking" when it is given current straight from the battery.

what cud be the problem?:
thermostat?, relay? pressure switch?

please guys help me out. all comments are welcome. sun real hot and now rain falling so i hadda sweat like a horse inside the car.. lol..

linker... i had a similar problem. first make sure ur condenser and compressor working fine.

tell me something... when u switch off ur car and restart, does the ac come on and cool. but when the compressor switches off on the first cycle, it never comes back on again??? i checked my entire ac system and it tormented me for weeks; only to realize it was only the relay that controls the switching of the compressor.

try this... go in ur fuse box in ur engine, pull out de fuse for the compressor when the compressor switches off after de first cycle, and doesnt come back on. leave the engine running. cuz when u switch off de engine, it resets the computer. replace the fuse wit a short wire to act as the fuse. if the compressor comes back on and cools the car then thas ur problem.

i bought my relay after market for $200. toyota didnt have, but u can still check.

gundelero you were right on the money...i carried the car to Ryanair in tacarigua this morning and it turned out to be the relay. bought an aftermarket relay (albeit an expensive one)... everything came up to $250.. kinda pricey but i just glad to have my ac working again...they sorted me out in a matter of minutes.. they were pretty efficient there...

the symptoms of my problem were as follows:
when i switch on the car and turn the ac on, the fan would start to spin, the revs would go up, but this would be just for a few seconds then it would stop.. the compressor would never come on..

I suggest you to check it by yourself. In these way you may know what happen to your AC. If you not found the problem and see all things is ok then you can consult the problem with AC repair service provider.
