Pinking Noise

Postby kg494EJ-1 » June 6th, 2008, 3:14 am

Yesterday I was forced to see about my AC and now at low speeds with the ac on or off I am hearing a awful pinking noise now I am praying it's not the engine(4AFE) it self, also I filled the car with super instead of premium as I was on E and the gas station ran out of premium, any advice will be appreciated, also I am thinkin its one of the belts but any advice will be appreciated.

Unlikely that switching gas would cause a 4afe to rattle igniton.....it may very well be related to the a/c. Let the ppl who installed/worked on the a/c hear it and see if they can decipher what it is. If not, check a good mechanic...and yes, there are still a few of those around.

actually the poor gas, doubled with the extra load put on the engine by the A/C might well be the cause of it eh

mines pulls timing on super REAL bad and with a/c on the effect is doubly worse..ESP during the day when it's real hot out :(

kg494EJ-1, drop in a bottle of octane boost (Prestone 0-60 or Wynn's Spitfire works best for me) and see if it makes a difference

^^^Thanks Hook,I forgot about the post, was having the same problem,I chose to drain the gas tank and switch fuel, the car still a lil powered down due to the use of the AC, but there is no noise and is performing a hell of a lot better,I will be dropping in a injector cleaner, after swapping the gas it manged a 180+ run later on. Thanks for the advise all
